Myers-H o 1 1 a n d Post 129, American Legion, was officially brought into being at an installa tion ceremony at Central Point last night. State ' Commander Penn Crum, State Adjutant Fritz Nissen, Past State Commander Neil Allen and Jack Maris, fourth district commander, were Legion officials present for the installation. Presentation of the charter was made by Nissen. Meeting was opened by Com mander Young of Medford Post 15 and Joseph R. Krupp, Sr., was installed as commander by District Commander Maris. Of ficers of Medford Post installed corresponding officers In the new organization. Those Install ed, besides Commander Krupp. were A. E. Powell, first vice commander; Walter N. Hawley, second vice commander; William W. Crabb, adjutant; L. P. Ma tties, finance officer; Seldon Hill, chaplain, and Ray Watkins, sergeant at arms. A turkey dinner preceded the meeting and was attended by about 175 Legionnaires. Nearly 250 attended the meeting, to which the public was invited. Legionnaires from Grants Pass and Ashland met with Med ford members at Medford Hotel where cars were pooled for the drive to Central Point. Central Point high school band met state officials and escorted them to Grange Hall where the banquet and meeting was held. The Le gion Kilty band from Ashland also was on hand. Presentation of the gavel was made by Grants Pass post. The Myers-Holland post was named in honor of Homer My ers and Vernon Holland, Central Point youths who gave their lives in World War II and is the first post in the state to so honor war dead. Myers' parents were introduced but Holland's parents were unable to attend. Russ Acfteson And Family Arrive In . Medford For Visit Flight Officer and Mrs. Rus sell Acheson and small son, Ken neth, have arrived in Medford from Palm Springs, Calif., where the officer has been training with the air transport command, and are at the home of Mrs, Acheson's parents, Mr. and Mrs, F. A. Oaugherty, Kings' high' ' way. The officer will be here and in Portland until January 13 when he will report to an overseas training unit. When Acheson left here in July of 1942 he resigned as ath letic coach for Medford senior high school. After training with the air corps, he served at an instructor at Sequoia Field in California for a year and a half before training in Arizona and Palm Springs with the transport command. He pilots C-47 planes, Mrs. Acheson and Kenneth will remain here for the present, OF SHOE STAMPS Washington, Jan. 4 flJ.R) The Office of Price Administra tion moved today to halt a seri ous run on the nation's shoe supplies by promising tin reservedly that no outstanding shoe ration stamps will be cancelled. Airplane stamps number one. two and three are now good for a pair of shoes apiece. Aroused by reports that panic-buying of shoes had set in all over the country for fear some of the stamps might be cancelled, Price Chief Chester Bowles declared emphatically that there was "not a chance in a million." "We are not going to. cancel any outstanding shoe stamps. he said flatly. P-47's-THEIR-JOB Evensville, Ind. (U.R) The four members of the Compton family are all connected with keeping P-47s going. Sgt. Virgil B. Compton is a member of repair crew for the planes in the Dutch East Indies, while his wife inspects the planes' wings in a war plant at home.
