Ninth Air Force headquarters
In France.
The Germans, attempting to
drive a wedge Into American
lines extending from Bayeau to
the Cherbourg peninsula, were
spotted and attacked under a
1000 foot celling, the dispatch
reads. Nearly a third of the
tanks were knocked out. The
Thunderbolts landed to refuel
and rearm, then attacked again.

Ashland, Dec. 20 The Siski
you mountain section of the Pa
cific highway is very slippery,
according to a report from the
weather bureau atop the moun
tain: ' Chains should be used. Two
or three inches of snow fell

the roads entirely clear of snow.

The new 194S automobile regis
tration stickers must be at
tached to vehicles on and after
Jan. 1, Secretary of State Rob
ert S. Farrell, Jr., warned Ore
gon motorists today. With only
three days remaining in which
to obtain the stickers, there are
more than 250,000 who have not
applied as yet.
A total of 163,378 applications
have been received so far, Fat
rell said. Application may be
made by mail to the Salem of
fice, or In person to the two
Portland branch offices of the
state department.
The stickers should be placed
on the upper part of the right
hand windshield, behind the
rear-view mirror, Farrell said.
