Little Girl Waits
Death By Leukemia,
Dread Blood Illness
Aurora, 111., Dec. 28V-U.P-
Too young to know the mean
ing of death, six-year-old Pa
tricia Attaway, a victim of lym
phatic Leukemia, an incurable
blood disease, lies today in a
hospital filled with toys she
never will be able to enjoy,
and talks of days when she will
be well enough to go to school.
The pretty, brown-haired lit
tle girl has been living on bor
rowed time for weeks, but her
physician, Dr. E. M. Thomas,
said it was nearly exhausted
and death may come at any mo
ment. "Only a miracle can save
her," Thomas said. "Indeed, it
is a miracle that she has lived
this long."
All the Christmas toys dear
to the heart of a child fill her
room, but she eyes them list
lessly. Her main interest is in
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Attaway, who keep a constant
vigil at her bedside.
