Mc Namee, Riverside, Calif., who at 39 is probably the youngest ack ack commander in the U. S. armed forces, has averaged four Jap planes a day definitely shot down and an equal number prob ably destroyed or damaged since the invasion of Leyte began. The ack-ack guns have bagged more than 400 enemy craft, most of them during the first few weeks when McNamee did not have too many - anti-aircraft pieces, especially the heavier type. During his last two years overseas the last year as the Sixth army's ack-ack command er he has made many improve ments in the disposition of guns and the dispersal of quadruple machine guns in connection with 40-mm pieces. . The closer General MacArthur comes to Manila the more at home McNamee feels. He was commander of anti-aircraft at Fort Drum the "concrete battle ship" and also at Corregidor from 1937 to 1B39. He was gradu ated from West Point in 1927 and has been in the army ever since. As soon as it is possible, Mc Namee said, he plans to bring his wife and their two children, Martin, 12, and Ann, 9, who live in 1 Paso, Tex., to Manila. R.E. Richard E. Winchester, 55 passed away suddenly about 11 o'clock last night at his home, 111 King street. He had made his home here about a year and prior to coming to Medford had lived in Lakeview about 30 years. . He is survived by two sons, in the armed forces, a daughter, Mildred, at home, and his wife, The body is at Perl funeral home pending arrangements which will be announced later.
