Flue Fir The chemical truck was called ot the residence of Louise Phillips, 204V4 West Jackson street, last evening, to extinguish a flue fire. The fire did little damage. Still, 26 Port land avenue, has transferred to the marines and is now at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is with the Field Medical school there. Still attended Medford high school be fore he went into the service. . Four Enlist Four 17-year-old Jackson county youths have en listed In the U. S. naval reserve. They are Samuel James More house, 19 North Peach street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel K. More house; Donald Fuller Mentzer, 703 West Second street, son of Mr.'and Mrs. Leland A. Mentzer; Bert Alvln Lewis, Jacksonville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewis, 2821 Kelburn avenue, Garvey, Calif., and Lewis Jackson Cox, Rt. 1, Box 40, son of Mi1, and Mrs. A. J. Cox. The boys were enlisted November 2 and are now home on inactive duty waiting their call to a naval training center. Cancel Meeting The Novem ber meeting of the Jackson County League of Woman Voter's board will not b held this evening since it is election night, Mrs. Justin Smith stated today. A combined November and December board m;etlng will be held Nov. 21 at 8 p. m. at Mrs. Smith's home. Stamp en Bale A special stamp commemorating the SOth anniversary of the motion pic ture industry went on sale at the Medford postoffice today, ' ac cording to Frank DeSouza, post master. The stamp, of three-cent denomination, pictures an open air scene in the South ieas with servicemen watching a motion picture. Home Nursing The Red Cross Home Nursing committee will hold a meeting Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in the Jun ior Red Cross rooms in the Holly building for anyone Interested in home nursing. Classes will be formed if there is good atten dance. Anyone who is unable to come to this meeting may tele phone instead. Expected Home Harper K. Hamilton, Jr., who recently graduated from advanced bom bardier school at Kirtland Field, Albuquerque, New Mexico, is ex pected home today where he will spend a furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Hamilton, 716 West Second street He was made a flight of ficer on November 4. Another son, Bob, has enlisted in the navy and is awaiting his call to duty. Accordionists Coming Luigl Rangan and Don Bottari of Port land will present an accordion concert Sunday, Nov. 12, under the auspices of Prentice's Ac cordion band. The concert has been scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It is stated that the two men are considered artists on the accordion and it is anticipated that they will attract a large audience. Mrs. Eve Pren tice and her students have pre sented other concerts here In the past- Stolen Cars Two more cars were added to the list of stolen vehicles today, making a total of four cars stolen within the last four days in Medford, ac cording to city police. Three of the four automobiles have been found, parked on city streets. The most recent theft is a grey Oldsmobile sedan, owned by Arthur Bassett of Lyons, Ore gon, who is registered at the Holland Hotel. Bassett reported to police that the car was taken sometime after II p. m. Sunday. BROCKHAUS BE At a meeting of the congrega tion of Zion Lutheran church held following the worship serv ices last Sunday, the resignation of the pastor, the Rev. Karl W. Brockhaus, who has been called to St. Mark's Lutheran church, Grand Forks, N. Dak., was for mally accepted with reluctance by the congregation. Pastor Brockhaus by his resig nation closes a three year min istry in the city. Prior to com ing to Medford he served as assistant to the pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, Beaver Dam, Wis. Both Pastor and Mrs. Brock hause have been active in com munity affairs as well as in lea dership of their own church ac tivities. The latter has been serv ing as board member of the newly formed Y.M.C.A. and is president of the Medford Coun cil of Church Women. She also holds office as vice-president of the Women's Missionary society of the Pacific Synod of the Unit ed Lutheran Church in America. Rev. Brockhaus In the past has served as secretary of the Med ford Ministerial association and at the present time is vice-president of that-organization. Pastor and Mrs. Brockhaus will leave. Medford the latter part of this month or early in December, depending on when arrangements can be made for a new minister here. The pastor stated that they will leave their numerous friends both in the congregation and th city at large with many regrets. HEALTH OFFICER LISTS DISEASES DURING WEEK Tuberculosis, pneumonia, re current malaria and trench mouth are listed on the weekly report of communicable diseases for the week ending November 4 according to Dr. A. Erin Mer kel, county health officer.
