Fischer, Jr., district governor of Lions, from Eugene, was a visitor at Medford Lions club Inst night In their meeting at Holland hotel. Mr. Fischer gave an Inspirational talk on Llonism. Dr. Russell M. Brougher, prominent theologian from New York, addressed club members as the main speaker and stress ed a six-point program for bet ter living. Also a guest was Roy Show- cross, Portland, new technical representative of the division of patent administration, alien property custodian, who spoke on the value of an Idea when it Is patentable. New Industries coming into the state as a re sult of patents were cited. P.-T.A. Activities Seldom do things dovetail more neatly. By a fortunate co incidence so happily related that It seems to have been planned that way, the subject of the In ternational Jnlform Sunday School lesson for Sunday, Octo ber 22, served as a fitting in troduction to the membership drive of the Junior High School ParentrTeachor association. In every Sunday school of 'evwy denomination using this lesson material men and women discussed the timely topic "Re ligion In Education." Human na ture being what it is, it is safe to say that many opinions doubt lessly were aired concerning the religious and moral forces of the community and the result ing character training of our youth. Psychologists tell us that Im pressions without expression are harmful. All the interest created in 'teen age activities, the en thusiasm aroused, the awakened urge to do something, should not be allowed to evaporate without being registered in a tangible form. Membership In the P.-T. A. gives a channel of action to link the home, the church and the school more closely together. Your under standing of the problems of youth ana of the community, your influence, efforts and abil ity are needed to carry forward a vita! program. A. and help that unit achieve the objectives of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, two of which are quoted: "To promote the welfare of children and youth In home, school, church and community."
