Young has been promoted to the rank of sergeant at the Carlsbad army air tiem in iew Mexico, a news release from the field states. Sgt. Young is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Young of this city. In Court Leon B. Smith, Floyd H. Underwood, Arnt Kris- tian Fickerud and Ernest Wil- burn Boswell were each fined $10 in city police court today on charges of being drunk. Under wood's fine was suspended. From Hoseburg Mrs. E. L. Henninger and Mrs. L. E. Hen ninger of Roseburg and the for mer's daughter, Mrs. B. H. Wil liams of San Francisco, were visitors in Medford over Sunday and were registered at the Med ford hotel. Visits James W. Grlgsby, Jr., F 1c, spent a 72 hour liberty in Jacksonville with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Grigsby. He left Sunday for his station in California. Grigsby traveled by United Malnliner and has been with the U. S. navy for the past nine months. Stoves Off Coal and wood heating and cooking stoves were taken off the list of rationed goods yesterday, a release from the Portland district office of OPA states. Oil and gas stoves, however, remain on the ration list and certificates will be re quired to obtain these. Unit to Meet Central Point Extension unit will meet Wed' nesday, Oct. 18, at the home of Mrs. Stella Anderson, Hamrick Road, at 10 a. m. Miss Marian Farrell will present the program on "house work the healthful way." Anyone Interested is cor dially invited to attend and each Is. to bring a paper sack lunch. Son Born Pfc. and Mrs. S. J. Sagone are the parents of a son born Oct. 12 at the Camp White Station hospital. The child weighed six pounds and 10 ounces and has been named Samuel Paul. Ken neth D. Beer has completed a four-week specialized course In ward training at Bushnell Gen eral hospital, Brigham City. Utah, a news release from the hospital states. ARE RANSACKED Two oil company offices In Medford were entered sometime over the week-end and about $3 In postage stamps taken from the Texaco office, 1024 South River side avenue, according to city police reports. Nothing was missing from the Shell Oil com pany office, although desks and cabinets were ransacked. The Shell office, 1002 South Central avenue, was broken In to through a window and at the Texaco office entrance was made by prying a door leading Into the warehouse. Burnt matches were scattered around the floor. Both companies had made a night deposit at their bank of Saturday receipts, the report stated. Police are working on the case today. During the sessions plans will be made for Oregon's participation in the sixth war loan drive which will be held Nov. 20 to Dec. 16. Attending from here will be George T. Frey Eino Hemmila, Larry T. Nygnard, O. O. Alen derfer, A. S. Rosenbaum and N. H. Zachariscn, county war fi nance chairman. Alice Patterson of the Ashland Chamber of Com merce will represent that city In the meeting. Ted R. Gamble, national direc tor of the war finance division, and Robert Coyne, field director, will be present for the meeting Wednesday and will present plans for the national drive.
