From frequent inquiries It
would seem that the notion Is
commonly prevalent that one
who overeats can reduce by
drinking some vinegar every
day.
As a condiment a few drops
of vinegar on your cabbage or
beans, if vou nrefcr it to lemon
juice, is harmless, although it is
well to remember that vinegar
is practically dilute citric acid
and citric acid is utilized in the
body. Thereto-e citric acid may
be regarded as food, and acetic
acid, taken in excess of the few
drops as condiment, may chenv

Pure acetic acid, officially
called glacial acetic acid (glacial
means resembling ice) Is a clear
liquid with characteristic pung
ent odor, sometimes used as a
Cdustic for destroying warts,
corns and the like.

acidosis. Vinegar, on the other
hand, tends to make the blood
and tissues less alkaline, the
urine acid. So I say, instead of
becoming a vinegar toper gratify
that craving by taking a glass
of tomato juice or lemon or
grapefruit or orange - or other
citrus fruit juice, or any com-
j bination of these that suits your
fancy. This will improve your
health and vite and appearane.
Vinegar will not.
Let me remind you that I use
vinegar as a condiment and I
know no reason wny every ut
should not do so. I like lemon
inlco on salad greens, spinach,
etc.. but for my baked beans and
boiled cabbage I want vinegar.
And if I were going to have
sliced cowcumbcrs but, come
now, let's keep our tempers
you have vinegar on your cow
cumbcrs If you like. I refrain
from commenting upon your
taste.
