LOCAL and PERSONAL Ball Ann ..V. ..Beagle, ..J3, Grants Pass, Vera, 19, and Margie Butterfleld, 22, from California, posted 510 bail in city police court today on a charge of being drunk and dis orderly. Discharged Ellsworth Bryce Houghton has received an hon discharge from the U. S. army. He has been stationed at Camp Stewart, Ga. Houghton has been In the army for the past two years, according to selective service board No. 1 with which he is registered. Robinson Home Philip E. Bobinson, GM2c in the navy, arrived in Medford Saturday after serving 34 months over seas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Robinson of 836 Tay lor street. Robinson will report for duty again October 27 at a Puget Sound navy yard. Mother Dies Don K. Bagley, 1322 Reddy avenue, left for Portland this morning where he was called by the death of his mother, Mrs. Harriet Bagley. Mrs. Bagley's death followed a stroke of paralysis suffered a short time ago. Mr. Bagley made the trip north with Herb Crain, navy recruiting officer travel ing to Portland on official busi ness. To Court Jewel Brabbin, charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and having no op erator s license, was cited by state police to appear in justice court Friday. John William Stone, changed with false appli cation for a hunting license. will also appear in justice court October 13. Commissioned McDonald De- Vaney has been commissioned as ensign in the U. S. navy and will leave soon for the Univer sity of Arizona, Tucson, where he will receive advanced train ing. He has been stationed for the past year in the Aleutian islands. He is visiting his moth er, Mrs. H. J. DeVaney, at 1012 Jackson street. Cited to Court William War ren Crawford has been cited to appear in justice court after be ing arrested Wednesday by state police on three charges includ ing failure to display PUC per mit, failure to display motor vehicle license and for driving during a period when his driv er's license had been revoked. He will appear in court Friday at 11:30 a. m. Suppers Changed Since the buffet suppers served Sunday evenings at the Markade have proved such popular affairs, plans have been made to make them potluck in order to pro vide a more ample menu, the director announced today. In the future young women of the Vol unteer Service corps planning to attend the Sunday evening suppers are asked to bring something for the menu. The shop was closed a year ago in April. Pays Fine Jack Hyland paid S10 fie in city police court to day on a charge of being drunk. Hyland was arrested by city po lice after fighting with Joseph Hernendez, Mexican, who was taken to Community hospital for medical attention for cuts on his head, police report. He is living at Camp Prescott. Club to Meet The Rogue River Valley College Women's club will meet Saturday, Octo ber 14, at the home of Mrs. J. F. Lawrence, 2218 East Main street at 2:30 p. m. "Steep Ascent." Ann Morrow Lindbergh's new book, and "Under Green Apple Boughs" by Lucile Grenboc, will be discussed by Mrs. F. J. Newman and Mrs. Blanche Ca node. Miss Elizabeth Burr is social chairman for the afternoon. LT. LISTED WOUNDED Word has been received here by Mrs. R. L. Younger, 318 S. Peach street, that her son, Lieut. Don Younger, has been critically wounded in France. He has been in the U. S. army for the past two years and is serving some where in France with the infantry-Lieut. Youngcr's wife, Mrs. June Younger, resides at Butte Falls. He is a graduate of Med ford high school and attended University of Oregon prior to entrance in the armed service.
