LOCAL and Shop Hera Mrs. Phoebe Mil ler and children of Ashland spent Monday afternoon shopping here. Employed At Mill Osborn Lee Ball of Ashland, former rodeo rider of Klamath county, Is now employed at the Jamson mill in Ashland and spent Mon day here. Cited To Court State police have cited George L. Prauss, 16, of Route 3, to appear in justice of the peace court at 3 p. m. Sept. 13 on a charge of failure to obey a traffic signal. Building Permit B. G. and Florence Harding applied at the city inspector's office yesterday for a permit to construct a stucco residence at 828 Dakota street at a stated cost of $400. To Initiate Attention of all Odd Fellows is called to the fact that following the regular ses gion tonight at the hall the initia tory degree will be conferred. The meeting is set for 8 p. m. Car Recovered A 1941 Pon tiac sedan, stolen from Grants Pass Sept. 8, was recovered on the Diamond Lake highway last night by a state police patrol. The car, abandoned, is owned by J. H. Coe of Portland. Kerrigans Visit Walter J. Kerrigan of the Morse Detective and Patrol Service of San Fran cis6o spent a few hours here Monday on business. Mrs. Ker rigan also visited. They are im proving their home in Ashland before returning south. Son Born A son was born at the Camp White hospital Aug. 29, 1944-, to Pfc. and Mrs. Ches ter Martin. It weighed eight pounds and 14 ounces and has been named David Carl. Mrs. Martin is the former Ruth Jacobs. Her husband is stationed in Italy. Daughter Born Pfc. and Mrs. Adrian L. Wigley are the par ents of a daughter, Teresa Elaine, born Sept. 2 at the Station hos pital. Camp White. Mrs. Wigley is the former Nellie Moon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moon. Pfc. Wigley's parents are Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wigley'. The soldier is now in France. Examiner Coming A trave ling examiner of operators and chauffeurs will be in the K. P. hall next Friday and Saturday between the hours of 9 a. m. and 5 p. m., according to a recent an nouncement from the secretary of state's office. Persons wishing permits or licenses to drive cars are asked to get in touch with the examiner during these hours. Daughter Born Pfc. and Mrs. Bob Brown of 723 Bennett St. are the parents of a baby girl, Sharon Elizabeth, born at the Camp White hospital, September 9. Pfc. Brown is stationed at Camp Swift, Tex., at the present time. Sharon Elizabeth is the Kranddaughter of Mrs. Homer Stevenson of Orchard Home Drive and of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown of 31S Ashland avenue. To Appear Robert H. Davis, 36, of San Francisco was cited by state police last night to appear in justice of the peace court at 2 p. m. Sept. 19 on a charge of parking his vehicle on a high way. Police said that Davis told them he parked his machine on the Pacific highway a mile north of the Rock Point bridge to clean his windshield. His vehicle was struck in the rear end by one operated by George W. Lance. Daughter Born Capt. and Mrs. Reginald S. Rood are the parents of a daughter born Sept. 10 at the Camp White Station hospital. Mrs. Rood Is the for mer Bettyjane Je.'frey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Jeffrey of Napa, Calif. Capt. Rood is a psy chiatrist on duty at an army evacuation hospital in France and was for a time stationed at Camp White with the 91st In fantry Division. Mrs. Rood's mother-in-law. Mrs. Florence Rood, Is residing in Medford at the present, making her home nt the Holland hotel. Dances Continue Dances at Service Club No. 2 at Camp White are being lit Id each Thurs day night, it was pointed out today by Mrs. Ruth Boyd, chair man of the Volunteer Service corps. A number of corps host esses have gained the impression that no dances are being held. Mrs. Boyd said, and added that an Informal dance is scheduled for the club fir Thursday night of this week. Visiting Parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Geren and son, Steve, of Independence, Ore., are visiting with Mrs. Geren's parents, Dr. and Mrs. S. Ralph Dippel, Stark street. They plan to return north the latter part of the week. Mrs. Geren is the former Patricia Dippel. . Nurses to Meet Graduate Nurse association, district four, will meet Sept. 14 at the home of Miss Anne Purucker, 106 South Orange street. Two Grass Fires The city fire department answered two calls yesterday to extinguish grass fires. The first occurred about 3 p. m. when both trucks were called to Glen Oak Court and Kecne Way Drive where a grass fire covered about a block. Another grass fire was put out on the corner of Hawthorne and East Jackson streets at 8:44 p. m. No damage resulted. Enlist Two 17-year-old Jack son county youths have enlisted in the U. S. navy. They are, Charles Theodore Fraedrick, Prospect, son M Mr. and Mrs. Everett E. Fraedrick, and Fred rick Warren Hancock, Gold Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mclvin C. Hancock. Keeney, general man ager of the Pacific Cooperative Poultry Producers that a branch house of the association will soon be opened in Medford in the Osenbrugge warehouse at 13th and South Front streets. Work has been started on re modeling the building to meet association needs. The Pacific Cooperative Poul try Producers, whose main of fice tfnd feed mill are located in Portland, has branch houses at Astoria, Albany, Eugene and Roseburg. Addition of the local plant, according to Mr. Keeney, will meet the demand of south ern Oregon poultrymen for co operative egg marketing and feed purchasing. The association plant here will receive, candle, grade and market eggs for its members in Jackson and Josephine counties. All eggs not sold to the local trade will go into the associa tion pool for shipment to out side markets. A complete line of poultry and turkey feeds, poultry sup plies and dairy feed is handled by the association. Grant Young, who has been in the association for ten years, has moved to Medford and will manage the local plant. Mrs. Young, who has accompanied him will have charge of the can dling and grading room. mi o. 74 John Oscar Frazier, 74, late of Central Point, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wildon Miller on West Jackson street, this morning. Mr. Frazier had resided In this county for the last 11 years. He was born in Michigan, Feb. 22, 1870, and is the last of a family of eight children. Hq leaves six children, Harry Frazier, Junction City, Ore.; Mrs. Clifford Papendick, Red lands, Calif.; Roy Frazier, On tario, Ore.; Francis, Jefferson, Ore.; Elmer, Alvadore, Ore., and Mrs. Wildon Miller, Medford. Deceased was a member of the Church of God at Central Point. Funeral services will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel at 3 p. m. Thursday, with the Rev. Parson of Central Point officiat ing.
