TWO MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE Tuesday, Sept 12, 1944 TIGER GRiDDERS K OF Coach Simpson Pleased Over Progress of Squad Players Like T-Formation Except for a dearth of ex perienced guards and reserves at other positions, Medford high's football sqund, one of the smallest numerically in many years, is coming along nicely in preparing for its opening game against Weed here the night of Sept. 22. Coach AI Simpson has thus far devoted most of the nightly practice sessions to giving the tquad of 30-39 "T" formation plays, and expresses himself as pleased over the way the lads are responding. Although most of the players work all day and are rather tired when they re port for the two-hour drills, they are showing increasing en thusiasm for the deception and quick-hitting maneuvers embod ied in the "T" system. Three lettermen are likely to be in the backficld that opens against Weed, the mentor said. He has Bob Watson at the ball handling and forward-passing quarterback spot; Marvin Doty, an end last year, at fullback and Jerry Clark pt right half. All won their monograms last season. At left half slot is (J len Bostwick, fastest man on the (quad. Sophs On Squad An alternate backfield finds three sophomores and one lct terman on hand. The sophs are Ken Lindley, quarter; Earl Etelle, left half and Nick Greene, right half. Earl Darn' hart is at full. The squad Is strong at the flanks, with Darrell Rlggs, Bill Plaskett and Al Klrcher, letter men, and Howard Whlllock, up from junior high.
