LOCAL and 111 in California Word has been received here that Mrs. Florence Brookmiller has been quite ill at the home 'of her brother in Canoga Park, Calif. . To Remodel Pacific Co-Op Poultry Producers, 602 South Front street, applied at the city Inspector's office Saturday for a permit to remodel their build ing at a stated cost of 5500. Graduates Raymond Palm of the marine corps has been graduated from radio operators' school at the San Diego marine base, according to a dispatch from the base. He had been as signed to a combat unit as a eommunications specialist and is at Camp Pendleton for further training. Palm was promoted to the rank of private first class upon completion of the radio course. Mrs. Palm and their two children reside at 216'2 Laurel street. Is WASP Mary Jean Barnes, formerly of Phoenix, completed her training at Sweetwater, Tex., Sept. 8 and was commissioned in the WASPs, according to word received by relatives. Miss Barnes, a graduate of Phoenix high school and of the South ern Oregon College of Education, taught aeronautics at Medford senior high school one year and then went to Pullman, Wash., where she was an instructor in the ground school of the army aviation training program of Washington State college. She went from Pullman to Sweet water last February. Miss Barnes trained as a pilot at local fields before the war. She is the daughter of Mrs. W. D. Barnes and the late Judge Barnes of Phoenix. DR. Without these essentials strong bodies cannot be built. But even these essentials, in order to build strong healthy bodies must be subject to a normal circula tion under the influence of nor mal nerve function. Morris has re turned from overseas duty and is unable to locate his wife, Jumps Curb A 1939 Plym- jouth sedan driven by Henry D Booth of Central Point skidded and jumped the curb at South Oakdale avenue and King street early Sunday morning and came to rest on the library lawn, ac cording to a city police report. Booth told police that he couldn't negotiate the turn as he drove out of King street Into Oakdale. There were three other persons in the machine and all of them were uninjured. August Vosika ar rived in Medford yesterday on leave from the army air corps after serving overseas In the I mcuuerram-an inpaier 01 jpti- ations. Sgt. Landes Is with his wife at the family residence, 105 North Oakdale avenue, and Cpl. Vosika is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Vosika, 102 Almond, and other relatives. The two men made the trip from Naples, Italy, together. Sgt. Landes is an aerial en gineer and crew chief for a special AAF transport plane and has served in North Africa, the middle East, India, England and Italy. He was overseas 21 months. Ha will remain here for about 10 days and then, with Mrs. Landes, will leave for Ar kansas to visit his parents. Mrs. Landes is the former Eris Lang ston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Langston, 114 Tripp street. Cpl. Vosika has served over seas since April of 1943 and has been witli the ground crew of the oldest bomb squadron, in point of service, in that theater of operations. Not long ago the unit received a Presidential Ci tation for the low level bombing attack on the Ploesti oil field in Romania and Cpl. Vosika, with other men of the unit, received nalr T.paf rlusters.
