Closing ttme for Sundav Too Late , to Classify 5:30 Saturday afternoon Please remember. i Stedford's Church of the Brethren congregation will ded icate a new church building Sunday, Sept. 3, it was an nounced today by the pastor, Stanley G. Keller. The building, at the corner of Mary and Sal ing streets, is not quite com pleted, but will be adequate for the dedication services, it was stated. The day's program will begin at 10 a. m. with singing, discus sion and a sermon. The dedica tion service is scheduled for 2 o'clock and the dedicatory ser mon will be delivered by the Rev, Grant T. McGuire, Wenat chee. Wash., regional associate executive secretary of the of the church. Regular services will start Sunday, Sept. 10, the Rev. Kel ler states. Church school will convene each Sunday at 10 a. m,, with Mrs. Marie Pence as superintendent, and the wor ship hour will be at 11 a. m. Evening services are to be held each Sunday at 8 p. m. The Rev. Keller, who has been in Medford about a month, is a graduate of the Bethany Biblical Seminary in Chicago, having taken two years of un der graduate and three years of graduate work' at the seminary. In between he studied three years at Pacific College at New berg, Ore., where he received an A. B. degree. During the past 11 years he has served churehei In Heedley, Calif., Al bany, Ore.; York, K. D.; Minne apolis, Minn., and Arcadia, Ind. The Rev. Keller states that the Church of the Brethren was formerly known as "Dunkers", and In early colonial days as the German Baptist Brethren. The church had Its beginnings tn Germany In 1708 and was first lead by Alexander Slack, the pastor states, and followed the Pietists in the belief that Chris tians should not only believe in Christ but be imitators of Him in daily living. The chtirch at first practiced separatism, but in recent years has taken more interest in the processes .of so ciety, "It is the purpose of the Med ford Church of the Brethren to promote the cause of Christ, to develop an adequate church program of singing, worship ex hortation and study and to co operate with other church groups of the city in every way possible," the pastor states. He added that the church was grateful for the opportunity to build in this area and extended fo all a hearty welcome to share in it's work. The congregation, of about 40 members, is new in ' this district and this is the first church building, services hav ing formerly been conducted in homes.
