Twenty-four songs, 18 of them oldies guaranteed to produce nostalgia, and six original num bers heard for the first time, are the vocal score for "Shine On Harvest Moon," Ann. Sheridan Dennis Morgan starrer opening today at the Craterian. The new numbers, with music by Moe K. Jerome and lyrics by Kim Gannon are "We're Doing Our Best For You," and "Rainy Days," sister - act personality songs for Miss Sheridan and Irene Manning; "Thank You For The Dance," a waltz song for Irene Manning and a male chorus; "So Dumb But So Beau tiful," comedy song for Jack Carson and Marie Wilson; and "I Go For You" and "Time Waits For No One," love songs for Den nis Morgan and Miss Sheridan. While these tunes have been given a flavor of the 1906-1910 period of the picture by Jerome and Gannon, they're also sing able by today's standards. Oldies to be heard, with ad ded special material by Jerome and Gannon include the title song "Shine On Harvest Moon." At the Rialto "Her Primitive Man" tops the twin bill, sup ported by the thriller, "Detec tive Kitty O'Day." REVEAL ROCKET GUNS DEVELOPED IN CALIFORNIA Pasadena, Cal., Aug. 5 U.B Eocket weapons that helped to curb the submarine menace and sided Allied invasions of North Africa, Europe and the Pacific were developed by the navy and group of scientists and engi neers at California Institute of Technology, the navy revealed tonight. The project, which began In September, 1941, is continuing, the navy said, with most recent developments still secret. "Magnitude and development of the work can be seen from the fact that rocket research and de velopment stand almost at the top of manpower and materials priorities and the fact that the army and navy have placed rock et production contracts totaling many millions," a statement from the naval ordnance bureau declared. "One type of rocket weapon developed by this cooperative ef fort has been in 'general use in anti-submarine warfare for over two years. "Another was used In Inva sions of Nosth Africa, Sicily, It sly and France, in the landing on Arawe and in subsequent isl and hopping in the south Pacific and has become standard equip ment for all amphibious opera tions. "Mors recently airborne rock ets have been developed as arm ament for carrier based pnd am phibian plant's and have been used successfully against Ger man submarine and against Japa nese shipping and land instal lations in the. Pacific." ABBOT TOO ISOLATED FOR NAVY HOSPITAL USE Washington, Aug. 5 OI.R1 Camp Abbot. Ore., is too far from large cities to be utilized by the navy as a hospital, de partment officials said today. Cooper, who gained Holly wood, fame as s child film star, now Is a member of the navy's V-12 program, stationed at the University of Notra Dame, Deputy Prosecutor Leo L, Cook presented the formal re quest to Cmdr, Walter S. Gabel, executive officer of the Notre Dame ' Naval Training station, for permission to arrest the 22-year-old Hollywood aiof and a fellow V-12 student, George Bender, 24, Sheffield, 111., who also is charged with contribut ing to the delinquency of the girls and having intimate rela tions with the younger one", a 15-year-old South Bend school girl. It was possible that Cooper's case would reach Secretary of tha Navy James V, Forrestal for review and a decision. Gabel said he would forward the charges to the Ninth Naval Dis trict headquarters at Great Lakes, 111., for relay to Forrestal at Washington. Cooper, whose lat movie "Where Are Your Children?", cast him in the role of a sailor and dealt with juvenile delin quency, was restricted to his base, along with Bender, Also accused on the delin quency charges were Miss Paul ine Frederick, 19, said to be Cooper's companion at tha drinking party, and Olie Low ery, 49, negro waiter at the hotel who allegedly served liquor to the minors. Miss Frederick was arrested today at her home, where she pleaded illness. She was re leased immediately under $1000 bond. Lowery was freed under $2000 bond. FURLOUGH M1XUP Topeka, Kan. (U,R) When Sgt. Joe Battinl, Brooklyn, N. Y., combat crewman at the army air field here, arrived at his home in the east while on a three-day pass, he learned that his mother and sister had gone to Kansas. The sergeant boarded another train for the Kansas plains. He arrived at a Topeka hotel in time for a two-hour chat with his mother and sister. He was transferred from Topeka the following day. Mo., residents of East Eleventh street reported that an albino robin had been seen many times recently in the of East Eleventh neighborhood and Portland avenue.
