Officer Leaves Lt. Dale Sey mour left by plane yesterday for Dyersburg, Tenn., after having spent a week with his parents Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Seymour of Central Point. Lt. Seymour is a bombardier instructor at the Dyersburg base. At Wolters Two Medford men, Pvt. Russell Ray Mee and Pvt. Kendall Lee Middleton, have arrived at Camp Wolters, Tex., Infantry replacement train ing center, for basic training. Both have been assigned to a battalion stressing rifle. Pvt. Mee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mee, 835 East Ninth street. Commissioned Richard A. McElhose, who graduated as a bombardier from Midland field, Midland, Tex., July 22, was commissioned a second lieuten ant in the air corps. Lt. McEl hose is now on leave and is in Medford to visit his father, R. E. McElhose, 829 Minnesota avenue, and his aunt, Mrs. Eva Marsh, 43 North Peach street. He will leave for a new post later this week. Drunks Arrested Russell S. Roseborqugh, 53, Fred Law, 65, and William Shann, 58 were ar rested by city policemen last night on a charge of being drunk. Police officers reported the men were on the railroad property by the old Chamber of Commerce building, drinking wine. They were held in jail overnight and released this . morning. Elmer James McBride, 26, was arrested last night on a charge of disorderly conduct, and Irwin Cleveland Pool, 59 was charge dwith being drunk. - Robert Howard Epperson, 35, was arrested on a charge of be ing drunk on a public street. Minor Accident G. C. Niel sen of Rogue River and Bill Backer of Medford drove auto mobiles involved in a minor accident Tuesday at 6 p. m. four miles north of Gold Hill, accord ing to a report on file. In Medford Mrs. Nora Jones arrived in Medford this week from Los Angeles for an indefi nite stay. A former resident of Medford, she is now at the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jones of 512 Penn sylvania avenue. League Plant Party Wesley- an League of the Methodist church has planned a picnic and swimming party to be held in Ashland tomorrow evening. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the church at 7 p. m. for transportation. Ser vicemen, their wives and friends are invited to attend. He was born in Patoka, 111., and had spent his entire life there until he sold his grocery store and moved to Medford two years ago. He also served as postmaster there for eight years and had been employed at the Medford postoffice far the past year and a half. He was a member of the Pres byterian church and a past mas ter of the A. F. 4 A. M. No. 613 in Patoka. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Frances Simcox; two chil dren, Porter Simcox, Jr., Van dalia, 111., Mrs. Elizabeth Jen nings, Medford; two brothers and three sisters, Carl Simcox, Lyle Simcox, Mrs. Josephine De Lay, Mrs. Mabel Sullivan and Mrs. Martha Cooley, all in Illinois. There are also three grandsons. The remains will be forward ed to Patoka, 111., Friday eve ning by the Conger-Morris Chapel for services and inter ment. IN NATWICK CASE A jury, composed entirely of women, was drawn yesterday to hear the suit of Ruth Natwick. as administrator of the estate of Carlyle R. Natwick, against Ken neth J. Moyer and wife for $10, 000. as the result of fatal in juries received in an auto acci dent on the Crater Lake highway last winter. The defendant is a soldier, and his testimony was through a de position. His wife, a co-defendant, is present. The plaintiff is represented by Attorneys Newbury and New bury and the defendant by At torney Charles W. Reames. THE GRANGE Gold Hill Grange Gold Hill H.E.C. met July 26 for a covered dish dinner with 16 members and four visitors present. Visiting was Mrs. Ver- nice Martin Baker of Los An geles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Martin and sister of Orpha. Fancy work was turned in for the bazaar, and kitchen fat was reported turned in. Grounds around the hall have been cleaned of dry grass. A picnic is being planned for sometime in August. Flora Friends remembered were Lilly MacKay and Lucy Edington, and a prize went to Lillian Auteur ieth. Two round robin letters were written to Jimmie Martin and Clyde Thompson who are sick overseas, and John Novae and Edith Bornaman who are ill at home.
