BARBER Funeral services for Frank LeRoy Barber, 21, seaman sec ond class, who died in the San Diego, Calif., naval hospital July 5, will be conducted from the Perl funeral home at 2 p. m. Tuesday. The body will lie in stale at Perl's from 1 p.m. Mon day to, 11 a.m. Tuesday. Thirteen soldiers from Camp White will net as pall bearers, and there will be a firing squad and taps played. The youth died of Injuries to his pelvis suffered In the line of duty while aboard his ship during gun practice July 4. He had Just returned to duty after a 16-day visit with his parents here following a month's duty In a combat zone. Barber was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barber of 816 McAndrews road and re ceived his schooling here. He was employed at the Timber products company for two years and before Joining the United States navy two years ago was employed at the Schmitts Steel company in Port land as a machine operator. Besides his parents, he leaves three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Lydia Henderson and Mrs. Frances WiUard, both of Port land, and Mrs. Catherine Fitz gerald, Medford; George Bar ber, in the navy stationed at Furragut, Idaho, and Bill u Barber, with the Seabecs in the Hawaiian Islands. lng the week ended July reached the highest level teince Oct. 23, 1H43, at bvy.buu 'cars, the Association of American Railroads reported today. IN "POST" JULY 15 A story written by Mrs. T. E. Knackstcdt, Oakgrove district, Is to be printed In the July IS issue of the Saturday Evening Post, It was announced yester day. The story, entitled "He Could Make A Willow Whistle," is 'about a soldier and was in spired through acquaintance with servicemen stationed at Camp White, the author states. This Is the second fiction pro duct of Mrs. Knackstedt pub lished by the Post, the first hav ing come out some two years ago. Other national magazines have also accepted the Medford woman's stories in recent years. She writes under her maiden name of Ada Marie 'Fairchlld. Mrs. Knackstedt has found less time lor writing in recent months, having been employed as office manager of Llttrcll Parts company since the war. Ickes disclosed tonight that all Japanese aliens who participated In the Tule Lake riot last No vember have been transported to Internment camps elsewhere. S citizens of Japanese ances try also implicated In the riot but whose transfer to enemy alien internment camps is for bidden. Transfer of the aliens was completed by removal of 26 over a period of three months. The youngsters car had been noticed parked near a neigh bor's Culerpillar tractor and his license number was taken down. When investigation re vealed that gasoline was mis sing from the tractor the boy was found and arrested.
