LOCAL and Returns Mrs. E. C. Ferguson, 135 N. Hclly street, returned Sunday after several weeks' visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ford Knutsen, In Astoria. On Staff Miss Darlene Loop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Loop, is now a member of the staff at the Sacred Heart hos pital. The Loop family resides on Withington street. Chosen Pvt. Donald E. Fre denburg. who is stationed at Camp Wolters Texas, has been" selected for radio training. He entered the army June 9. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Fredenburg of the Jacksonville highway. In Utah Cpl. Calvin N. Hows ley of Central Point Is now sta tioned at the overseas replace ment depot at Kearns, Utah, a news story from the depot states. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Howsley, Rt. 1, Box 281, Central Point. At Home Nick Young has re turned to his home at 509 North Riversido avenue after being confined to the Veterans' hos pital in Portland for six months for treatment. Young, a former constable of Medford, is able to receive visitors. Restaurant Closes Camp White Exchange restaurant No. 1, better known as the Civilian restaurant, will close its doors on July 4. Those attending are asked to bring their own picnic baskets. ' Transferred Pvt. Lulu F. Knox of the Women's Army corps . was recently transferred for duty at Ft. Lawton, Seattle, after completing training at Ft. Des Moines, la. Pvt. Knox is the daughter of Mrs. Rena P. Palm erton, Rogue River. Sergeant Killed Sgt. Floyd M. Boyer, a former resident of Gold Hill, was killed in action in Italy May 23, according to infor mation received by his mother, Mrs. Agnes E. Boyer, now resid ing in Lame Deer, Mont. In ad dition to his mother, he is sur vived by a sister, Mrs. Leo Wil kie of Lakeview, Ore. Graduates Cloyd Lee Porter was graduated June 27 from Luke army air field in Arizona and was commissioned a second lieutenant, according to a news dispatch from the field. The! young man received his pilot's' training at Santa Ana, Mira Lo ma and Gardner fields in Cali fornia before being sent to Luke field. Lt. Porter, a graduate of the Rogue River high school, is the son of Mrs. R. C. Cummings. Jacksonville. He was employed at the Mail Tribune before en tering the service. Ens. Codding Here Ensign George Codding, Jr., arrived here by plane Saturday after noon to spend a week's leave with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. George A. Codding of 1015 Queen Anne avenue. Miss Seiler enlisted in the SPARS in April of 1943 and was trained at Palm Springs, F)a. She is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Seiler, 1115 West Second street. Posts Bail Clifford Keaton, 33, of 1038 Court street, charged with drunken driving, posted $50 bail with city police early Sun day morning. Keaton was arrest ed in the 600 block on North Central avenue. Minor Accident Pvt. R. A. Murray of 616 'South Oakdale avenue and J. B. Shaw of 1746 North Riverside avenue, drove cars involved in a slight mishap on South Oakdale avenue Sun day morning, according to a re port on file today. Home Aviation Cadet Harper Hamilton was home for three days last week, due to a delay en route. He has just completed gunnery school in Las Vegas, Nev., and Friday continued on to Albuquerque, N. M., for ad vanced bombardier training. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Hamilton of 716 W. Second St. Lt. O'Brien Leaves First Lt. George W. O'Brien, post signal officer at Camp White, left last week for Camp Crowder, Mo. His duties at Camp White were assumed by 1st Lt. Kenneth Koh ler. Previous to his assignment here Lt. Kohler served in the California-Arizona maneuver area, where he aided in dis mantling the huge desert train ing center. Visiting Here Cpl. James Baize, an instructor of radar at Punta Gorda. Fla., is spending a two-week furlough here visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Baize of 21 Genessee street. Leaving this morning to return to his home in Porterville, Calif., after spending several days vis iting his brother and parents, was W. B. Baize, driver for the Greyhound lines. Findieys Here Capt. and Mrs. Dwight H. Findley and three children arrived in Medford Fri day and are guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Lageson, 34 Glenn Oak Court. Capt. Find ley, former well known Medford physician, is stationed at Hamil ton Field in California. The fam ily will be in Medford for the remainder of this week. Holmes Return Mr. and Mrs. Cole Holmes, 6 Keene Way Drive, returned Sunday from Portland where they spent a short time on business. They were accompanied as far as Port land by their son, Bob, who was en route to the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he is training under the navy V-12 program, after spending several days' leave in Medford with his parents. . Meyers Leaving Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meyers and small daugh ter, 527 Dakota avenue, will leave Wednesday for Walla Walla, Wash., where Mr. Meyers will temporarily be attached to the staff of the USO. He will also work with the Pendleton, Ore., and Pasco, Wash., USO centers, and will be absent from Medford forabout a month. SHERIFF'S POSSE The annual rodeo and horse show sponsored by the Jackson County Sheriff's Posse will be held at the fairgrounds park July 15 and 16, with jjerform ances slated for Saturday eve- ing, July 15 and Sunday after noon the following day, it was announced today. Rodeo and show will be stag ed by Mack Barbour of Klam ath Falls, who will provide the stock. On the program will be bucking horse contests, Braham Bull riding, bulldogging, team roping and other events.
