HEALTH BOARD OF FOUR SECTIONS IS EXPERT'S ADVICE .Reorganization of Oregon State Setup Proposed After Survey by Dr. Buck Reorganization of the Oregon State Board o Health into four major sections is proposed in the survey of the Health Board's facilities, personnel and meth ods recently made by Dr. Carl E. Buck, field director of the American Public Health associa tion. Establishment of these sec tions, designated as administra tion, preventive medical serv ices, environmental sanitation and local health service, is one of the several basic changes in the health department's organ izational set-up proposed by Dr. Buck and described in the last issue of the state health bulletin, i Dr. Buck spent two months in Oregon recently conducting his investigation. He. came here at the invitation of Dr. Frederick D. Strieker, state health officer, to compile a report which would be of assistance to the interim committee set up by the 1943 legislative assembly to conduct an investigation of the State Board of Health. The report recently submitted to Dr. Striek er is preliminary in nature. State Department Under tire reorganization pro posed by the report, Oregon's public health agency would be known as the State Department of Public Health, with a Board of Health constituting the ad visory, judiciary and policy forming branch, and the state health officer and his staff con stituting the executive branch. Existing divisions of the State Board of Health would be re grouped, each falling within one of the four sections. Four new divisions are recommended: pub lic health dentistry, health edu cation, milk control and super vision, and meat and other food products.
