Roy . Lay is home on a two week furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lay of 245 South Central Ave. Sgt. Lay Is sta tioned at the Santa Ana Air Base with the A. A. F, To Return Lt. Bob Iven will return to Colorado Springs, Colo., Tuesday after spending a 10-day leave here with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Iven of 1006 West Fourth street. This is Lt. Iven's last leave before leaving for overseas duty. Bengtson Returns O. H. Bengtson Medford lawyer and Jackson county Republican nom inee for a seat in the Oregon house of representatives, re turned this morning from a two week business trip to Chicago and other points in the middle west. Minor Accidents O. C. Maust of Ashland and L. H. Marsden - of Gold Hill drove cars involved in a minor mishap on North Central avenue near West Fourth street Sunday night, ac cording to a report on file to day. Machines operated by Roy G. Smith of Route 2 and Bob Jones of Eagle Point were in volved in a slight accident on the Pacific highway 12 miles north of Medford Sunday morn ing, a report on file said today. ' Graduates Word has been received from the Arn.y Air Forces Liaison Training School at Pittsburg, Kan., that 2nd Lt. Charles F. Hampson graduated from the school on June 11 and received his Liaison Pilot's wings. Lt. Hampson will be sta tioned at the Field Artillery School, Fort Sill, Okla., for ad vanced training in piloting the observation planes. He is the son of Mr. T. J. Hampson of 44 Meyers Court. Kavanaughs Here Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Kavanaugh and son, Arlan, of Longview, Wash., are in Medford visiting Mrs. Kava naugh's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hunter of 51 North Oak dale avenue. The Kavanaughs are former local residents. Al ien, 12 years old, two weeks ago won first place in the S0yard breast-stroke race in a swimming meet in Portland's Multnomah club pool for Boy Scouts of that area. He belongs to Scout Troop 319, Longview, and was awarded a gold medal for winning the race. Completes Training Alvin L. Wimer, graduate of Medford high and former baseball pitch er for the University of Oregon, has completed his basic flying training at the Gardner, (Calif.) army air forces pilot school and has been sent to an advanced flying school to finish his pilot training. Upon successful com pletion of this course he will ra cclve a commission as a flight officer or second lieutenant In the Army of the United States. Cadet Wimer, who was accept ed as an aviation cadet May 20, 1943, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Wimer of 410 North Ivy street. His wife, Mrs. Jeanette Wimer, resides with his parents. Ord, Calif., to Camp Van Dorn, Miss., the offi cer having been . transferred re cently to the new post. Mrs. Mills is the former Gretchen McAllister, daughter of Mrs. James H. McAllister, 817 West Tenth street and her wedding to Lt Mills took place a few weeks ago in California. At present the Mills are in Detroit visiting Lt.-Mills' parents. Visits Mrs. Dora Harman, of Girard, Kansas, arrived in Med ford Monday evening to visit her sister, Mrs. Chas. Coggins of 5 Park Place. Before coming to Medford Mrs. Harman visited with her son, Harold Harman, in Pasco,-Wash. She expects to remain here on the coast for the summer months. Visiting Here Chaplain and Mrs. W. B. Bray of Kansas City are here visiting at the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Bray of Lozier Lane. The two are newlyweds. She is the for mer Frances Hutchinson of Kansas City. Thursday of this week, Chaplain Bray will at tend the Oregon tonference in Portland. Demonstration A demon straton on "prevention of acci dents and food spoilage in home food preservation" will be giv en at the Central Point Grange hall Wednesday, June 21, at 1:30 p. m., it was announced today. The demonstration will be given by Miss Marian Far rell, home demonstration agent for the county, and will be open to the general public. . Camp White Dance Schedule Thursday Special party at Station Hos pital, with transportation to leave Riverside USO at 6:45 p.m. It is stated that hostesses requir ing transportation must call Mrs. Boyd in advance. Regular dance at Service Club No. 2, with SCU orchestra pro viding music. It is suggested that hostesses plan to attend both affairs, going first to the hospital and thenvon to the service club dance. Louis L. Blood worth has announced. Most problems will be handled through correspondence, Lt Bloodworth stated. However, in cases where a special visit would clarify the situation, such visits will be made.
