today he was "confident" Roose
velt again would be a candidate
but that, to be sure, newsmen
would have to ask the Presi

Hannegan observed that, ac
cording to newspapers, Mr.
Roosevelt had 000 votes sewed
up and waiting for him when
the convention meets In Chica
go July 19. He added his proph
ecy that Mr. Roosevelt would
be elected for a fourth term "by
an overwhelming majority." He
made no prophecies concerning
the vice-presidency.
Addressing 300 democrats,
Hannega said here Sunday that
victory would come to the party
only if It banished a false sense
of security and substituted a
policy of hard work, unity and
devotion to party principles.

the northwest of Rome," as an
nounced by Adolf Hitler, was
likely to develop into a retreat
all the way to the Po valley,

his defense of Italy a matter of
rear guard actions from what
ever lines he can hold temporar

knowledging the loss of the city,
