Brenneman of 33 Ross Court were drivers of automo biles which were involved in a miner accident at Grape and Main streets Monday afternoon, according to a report on file today. : Data- Extended The date of application for the new blue and red ration tokens for retail food dealers has been extended to Jan. 8 it was announced by the local war price and ration board today. D Inskeep reported to city police Monday that somebody made a vain attempt to break into his office safe Sunday night by ham mering on the front of the dial. The safe was not opened and nothing else in the office, 213 Medford building, was dis turbed. Dr. Jnskeep told police that no money was kept in the safe, only books and papers. Edwards has arrived in Medford from Liberal, Kansas, where he is stationed with the AAF, and Is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Edwards, 1105 West Fourth St. Cpl. Edwards is a mechanic for Liberator bombers. He has been In the service a year, this being hir first visit home since going into the army. Ruling Announced A recent ruling of the OPA sent to the local war price and ration board Is to the effect that no sugar f 'can be allotted for home curing of meats, but that persons wish ing to cure meats in the home ahnulrl use thA commercial mm. pounds which ned no addi tional sugar. Kyle, Jr., left Medford Sunday night to report for active duty with the army at Ft, Lewis, Wash. The young man, a soli of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Kyle, Sr., 609 South Oakdale Ave., enlist ed in the army last summer immediately upon graduating from Medford senior high school. He has passed the A-12 exami nation and is qualified for as signment to college training, WAVE Leaves Miss Pauline A. Champlln left this morning for San Francisco where she is assigned to the office of the port director. Miss Champlin, who enlisted in the WAVES last June, is a yeoman third class. Before enlisting Miss Champlin was a secretary in the employ of the California-Oregon Power company. Another son, Cpl. Homer S. Morris, stationed at the army air base at Ardmore, Okla., vis ited his parents here recently. Returns To Base Lowell A. Ashbach, aviation ordnance man. second class, returned to the naval base at Seattle Sunday afternoon by plane after a brief visit in Medford with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ash bach, 44 North Orange St The Ashbach family came here re cently from Minnesota. Sinner Planned Members of the Gleaners' class of the Bap tist church and their families will attend a dinner at the church Thursday night of this week. The dinner was to have been held last week but was postponed due to the illness of several class members. The din ner is scheduled for 6:30 p. m. and will be followed by a pro-, gram and a gift exchange. Blagle Leaves Pfc. Robert B Slagle, USMCR, left Saturday morning for Mlramar, Calif., where he is stationed, after spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Slagle and family at Prospect While home Slagle stated that copies of the Mail Tribune were greeted with Joy by the three Jackson county men there and that little was left of the copies after the 63 men in the barracks had finished reading them. In Instructor Second Lt. Bar ton LaFon, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. King, 614 Park Ave., has arrived at Pecos army air field, Pecos, Tex., and has been assigned to duty as in structor, according to an an nouncement from the field. Lt. LaFon is a graduate of the Eugene high school and a for mer student of the University of Oregon. He entered the serv ice March 12, 1942, and was assigned to Pecos from Yuma army air field, Yuma, Ariz., where he was an Instructor. Jones Enrolls Stanley Jones, Jr., bus been enrolled In the U. S. N. R. midshipmen's schools at Columbia University, New York, under the V-7 program according to word received here by his parents. He recently com pleted college training study at Park College, Mo., and was for merly enrolled at the University of Oregon with senior standing, While at Park College lt is re ported that he pieced eleventh in academic standing out of a arouo of 400. His brother, Ken neth Jones, Is also enrolled in the college training program as an aviation student in the army air corns at Jamestown College, N. D. ' Their parent are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley C. Jones, 512 Pennsylvania Ave. Returns Bob Bryant, a navy V-ll student at the University of California, Berkeley, left yes terday to return to the institu tion after a five-day visit with his parent. Marshfield, and Evelyn Hylle, 81, Ashland; and Fay Carnation, 23, and Frances Mann, 27, both Medford, accord ing to United Press dispatch. Suffers Stroke Mrs. O. T. Jackson, SIB S. Grape reet, suffered a stroke last Thui day, but is reported today to be some what Improved. Mr. Jackson states that she Is confined at their home and can have visitors now. Mr. Agens was born at Newark, N. J., Feb. 0, 1875. The family home is at 232 Valley View Drive. He is survived by his wife and one son, Commander F. F. Agens, U. a. N and two grandchildren. Nancy and Elizabeth Agens, also one sister, Mrs. Florence E. Lan- terman, of East Orange, N. J.
