JACKSONVILLE Tl Descendants of Pioneer Families Invited to Kaiser Yard Launching Deo. 23. December 23 has been an nounced aa date of the launching of the S. S. Jacksonville at Fort land, second tanker built at the Kaiser shipyards to be named after historic southern Oregon places. First was the S. S. Table Rock, launched a few weeks ago. County Judifa J. B. Coleman is to attend the launching as a special guest of the Kaiser com pany and Invitations have been extended to K. K. Kubli and Benjamin Bcekman, descendants of Jackson county pioneer fam files now living In Portland, to attend the ceremonies. The Kublls were early settlers In the Applegate distr'ct and Mr. Beek- man's father operated the pio neer Beekman bank in Jackson ville in the famous "gold rush" period of Jacksonville History. Simpson, com manding general of the Fourth army, paid his Initial visit to Camp White Thursday where Ha conferred with MaJ. Gen. James Ij. Bradley, 88th Infantry Divi sion commander, Brig. Oen. Amos Thomas, post commander. and Four army special troops commanders. Gen. Simpson, who assumed command of the Fourth army this fall, came to Camp White from Fort Lewis and Camp Adair, where he Inspected other units of his command. - Following conferences with Gen. Bradley, members of the division staff and commanders, Gen. Simpson toured the divi sion area. "From what I've seen, I am very much impressed with the spirit and general appearance of the division," he saM. "I ex pect to see more on later visits." .
