in military and civilian passen
ger travel, and a three to six pei

roads that were reported to o

the smallest percentage increase
of the war, officials point out
that It comes on top of an ex
pected over-all 1943 Increase of
15 per cent in- terms of miles
and a 33 per cent Increase in
1942. the first year of war.

Three hunters driving back in
their car to their hunting camp,
struck a bear which crossed their
path. They thought it was dead
and loaded the carcass in the
car.
A. few minutes later the bear
recovered. The hunter sitting be
side the bear broke the record
for Jumping out of an automo
bile. His companions followed
him and locked the bear in the
car.
While the hunters plotted their
next move, the bear ripped the
upnulstery of the car. Finally.
one of the hunters lured the
beast out of the car and the oth
ers fired their hunting rifles
three times, The shots destroyed
the gas tank, ripped out a rear
tire and killed the bear. i
The insurance company re- ;
fuses to pay damages and the
game warden charged the trio '
with killing a bear out of sea-1
son.
