Dougherty Married In Eatt At Thankiglvlng Day cere mony November 29 Ml Betty Jo Southwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrt. Ralph H. Southwick. SIS West Tenth St.. became the bride of Capt. John J. Dough erty, ton of Mr. and Mr. John A. Dougherty of Darby, Penn. The marriage vow were read at nuptial man at 10 o'clock Thanksgiving morning by the Rev. Edwin A. Horn In Saint Clement'i Catholic church tn Philadelphia. The church wai decorated with white chrysanthe mum!, palms and white taper During the ceremonv Vincent Cavanaugh sang "On This Day, "Ave Maria" and during the Holy Communion, "O Lord, I Am Not Worthy." He was ac companied by Mary Bernard at the organ. The wedding party entered the church to the strains of the traditional wed ding march. Miss Southwick, given in marriage by James W. Feather- stone, wore wedding town of white sntin trimmed with seed pearls and a full-length veil with a tiara of lillie-of-th valley. She carried a white prayer book with a white orchid and streamers of tiny chrysan themums. Attending the bride at ma- iron-oi-nonor was me grooms sister, Mrs. James W. Feather stone, and bridesmaids were Miss Eleanor Dougherty and Miss Anne Dougherty, also sis ters of the groom. Mrs. Feather stone wore a velvet dress of plum red and a small hat of the same material. The brides maids wore matching dresses of deep aqua velvet and head dresses. The three attendants carried old-fashioned nosegays of gold chrysanthemums. Best man for Cant. Doushr was Daniel Ma her and ushers were William McNeil and Al bert Burdetta. The wedding breakfast was nem at oiademore Court in Philadelphia for 50 close friends and relatives of the bride and groom. Capt and Mrs. Dough erty cut the first slice of the tiered wedding cake. The tables and dining room were decorated with fall flowers and candles. Capt and Mrs. Dougherty made a wedding trip to New York and for traveling the bride wore a two-piece black suit with velvet trim and black acces sories. Her flowers were an orchid corsage. They arrived in Medford this past week and after a brief visit with Mrs. Dougherty's parents left last night for Albany where they will reside at 625 West Sixth St. Cant. Dougherty is with the 91st Infantry Division and is sta tioned at Camp Adair. The bride is well known -in Medford, having graduated from Medford senior high school. A group of bethel girls attend ed the institution of the new Jobs' Daughters bethel at Glen dale Friday evening. They were accompanied by council mem bers. ' George Buchanan Is Club Speaker Ueorge Buchanan, president of the Medford Toastmaster's club, spoke on "War Tasks for Education" at the meeting 'if Medford Business and Profes sional Women held last Thurs day night at the Girls' Commun ity club. Mr. Buchanan not onlv told something of the national war education program but gae information on war classes in Medford schools and other local projects. The program was presented by Mrs. Iva McHenry, education chairman for the club. A musi cal program was presented by f'r Eve Prentice and her accor dion band. .LXt meeting of the club wl'l be a Christmas party Dec. 16. Espey was honored with a shower Tuesday night during the regular meeting of the bridge club to which she be- longs. Mrs. W. L. Tucker was hostess for the meeting, the af fair being at her home, 2233 Aloha St. Dessert was served at 7:30 o'clock and was followed by bridge and the presentation of gifts to Mrs. Espey. Wednesday Club Hears Reviews Mrs. Paul Rynning and Mr R. A. Work were on the program for the Wednesday Study club's meeting last week, held as usual at the Girls' Community club Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. .Rynning reviewed Max Miller's "Land Where Tim Stands Still". Thl book tell of the HOO-mile travel of the author and two naturalists thru Lower California. The party fol lowed the old Mission trail and the story of this Uttle-know-i and little-traveled country has proven very interesting. "Salud" by Margaret Culkln Banning was reviewed by Mr. Work. This South American journal is the account of a visit to South America made by Mrs Banning and her daughter. Thev visited some of the out-of-the-way places and endeavored to acquaint themselves with the viewpoint of the women of the countries visited. Mrs. Frank Albert, president of the group, was in charge of the meeting. Officers Elected By Navy Mothers Mr. Florence Cuffel wa named commander of the Med ford Navy Mother' club, No. 46 at a meeting last Wednes day afternoon at the home of Mr. Maude Culbertson, Rt. 3. Mrs. Ralston la a former teacher and for the past thrro years has been teaching tn eastern Oregon. Prior to thai she taught In Jackson county. For the past several months site had been In Medford with her parents. The groom is also a teacher by profession and was teaching lu Klamath county when- be en listed In the navy. Michigan Couple Married Saturday At Camp Chapel The wedding of Mia Shirley Buckner, a daughter of Mr. and Mr. Duncan Buckner of Detroit, Mich., to First Lt. Vero Thaler of the 9flth Headquarters Battal Ion of the Bflth Division artillery brigade, took place Saturday Nov. 37. at Chapel No. S. Camp White. The service was read at three o'clock In the afternoon by Chaplain Howard Patrick. Mia Buckner wore for the wedding a blue suit with brown accessories and an orchid cor sage. She wa attended by Mr. John Pfaff, who also wore a suit and a corsage of gardenia. Mu Buckner was given In marriage by Brig. Gen. Paul V. Kane, ar tlllery commander. Capt. John Pfaff wa best man for IA. Thaler. Immediately after the cere mony Lt and Mrs. Thaler were taken on tho traditional artillery ride around the post, LL Tha ler' fellow officer having pro vided a 103 mm. howitzer on which the couple took the ride. Later a reception was held for LL and Mrs. Thaler at the Out post and the traditional wedding cake and refreshment were served. Gen. Kane made a brief speech welcoming Mrs. Thaloi to the pott and proposed a toast to the couple. The reception wa arranged by the Outpost stall, Mr. 1. t. Lady Lions Plan Welfare Projects Plan for the Christmas wel fare work - of the group were made at a meeting of Medford Lady Lion held Tuesday eve ning of last week at the home of Mrs. Claude Haggard, 403 J street. Mr. Arnold Green la the group's welfare chairman, The business meeting followed a dinner, with Mrs. M. E. Olson and Mr. Elmo T. Atterbury as sisting Mrs. Haggard.
