Completes Training Pvt Mable Sherwood has completed her training in the WAC motor transport school at Ft. Des Moines, la., and will shortly be assigned to a station for active duty. WACs attending motor transport school learn inspection, maintenance and operation of army trucks and motor vehicles, according to a news release from the fort. While there he attended a dinner in the Palace hotel for wounded soldiers and sailors, sponsored by San Francisco bankers and the Shrine, at which Clyde Fichtner, former Medford traffic officer now in the navy and stationed at Treasure Is land, gave a gas demonstration with a squad of six WAVEs. Green said the demonstration highlighted an excellent program and that Fichtner was looking very well and sent his regards to friends here. Cars Damaged Both vehicles were damaged considerably when a Yellow cab driven by William Drumm struck the Humane Society ambulance operated by Mrs. Essie L. Wright at 11th and Holly streets Mon day afternoon, city police re ported today. The taxi, police said, was traveling west on 11th street while the ambulance was moving north on Holly. Is Chairman Miss Nanette Holmes, sophomore in socialogy at the University of Oregon, was one of the students in charge of the annual' sophomore formal dance, titled this year "Harvest Moon" and held last weekend on the campus. Miss Holmes was chairman in charge of patrons and patronesses for the dance Miss Holmes is the daughter of Mrs. Kinney Holmes and David Holmes of Medford. She had resid ed here for the last 40 years, and was 69 years of age. Born in Appanoose county, Iowa, Aug. 26, 1874, she came to Medford with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Daily, and was married here to Oscar Stinson, who passed away in 1927. Surviving are her two daugh ters, Mrs. William Strode and Mrs. Louis Putman, and grand children, Louise Putman and Jer ry Warren, all of Medford. Also two sisters, Mrs. A. B. Culey of Medford and Mrs. A. J. Zimmer man of Jamestown, Kas., and brothers, T. W. Daily of Medford and M. L. Dally of Prospect Mrs. Stinson was a long-tirae member of the Methodist church and services will be conducted by the Rev. Louis C. Kirby In the Conger chapel at 10 a. m.
