Beasleys Here Cadet and Mrs. Harry Beasley left this morning for Carlsbad, N. M., where Cadet Beasley will con tinue his bombardier training with the army air force. The Beasleys spent a few days in Medford with Mrs. Beasley's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Schmidt, 317 Howard Ave., after Cadet Beasley had finished six weeks' training at Las Vegas, Nev. . . . - . r To Be Guests Men of the 185tb General Hospital unit at Camp White will be special guests at the regular dance at Service Club No. 2 at Camp White Thursday night, and men from the unit will make up an orchestra for the dance. Medford girls at least 18 years of age, or navwg graduated from hieh school, are eligible to become VRV hostesses and to attend the dances at the Camp White ser vice clubs. Those planning to at tend the Thursday night dance are asKea to call the Outpost and register their names. Busses will be provided, leaving the old chamber of commerce building at 8 p. m. CALENDAR Transfers Miss Mauds Pnnl of Applegate has been added to the Medford staff of the Rogue niver national Forest service as a clerk. Miss Poole is a transfer from the Star Ranger Station, Applegate. Visiting Here Lt D. D. Stubbs of Kansas City, Mo., pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress, will leave here tonight for Pendleton to re loin his squadron after spending two days visiting his aunt, Mrs. jbck bwem, 38 Ross Court. Lt. stubbs has been stationed at Moses Lake, Utah. Examiner Coming A travel ing examiner of operators and chauffeurs will be in the K. P. hall next Friday and Saturday between the hours of 9 a. m. and 5 p. m. and those wishing permits or licenses to drive cars are asked to contact the exam iner between these hours. Cpl. Beck Here Cpl. Alfred M. Beck arrived in Medford Sunday from the army air base at Yuma, Ariz., on a 15-day furlough. Cpl. Beck is an in structor in mechanics at the base. Cpl. Beck, a graduate of Medford .high school, has been in the army since December of 1941. Graduates W. J. Hughbanks of Rogue River recently gradu ated from the AAF flexible gun nery school at Kingman field, Kingman, Ariz., according to a dispatch from the field. Aviation Cadet Hughbanks has been in the army a year. He is the son of Monroe Hughbanks of Rogue Ri er. ' In Hospital Miss Maurine Shearer, clerk at the Rogue River National Forest service in Medford, left for the north Sunday and yesterday under went a minor operation on her right wrist at St. Vincent's hos pital in Portland. Miss Shearer will be absent from her work here for about two weeks and after leaving the hospital will be at her parent's home in Dorena, near Cottage Grove. TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Jennie R. Meehan passed away at the home of her daugh ter, Mrs. Theo. Hoeftt, Of Lake Creek, Tuesday morning follow ing lengthy illness. Mrs. Meehan was born on October 23, 1953, in Ashtabula, Ohio. On Feb. 23,' 1888, she was united in marriage to John B. Meehan in Denver, Colo. In Oc tober, 1907, she came with her family to Medford where she has since made her home. Her husband preceded her in death on March 26, 1911. In Novem ber, 1938, she went to Lake Creek to live with her daughter. Mr. Meehan has been an ardent member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1888. She leaves to mourn her pass ing her son John B. Meehan of Medford, a daughter, Mrs. Hoef f t of Lake Creek, and three grand children, Sgt. Myron Meehan. of'Camp Adair; Dorothea Mee han, of Portland, and June Hoefft, of Lake Creek. Funeral services will be held at Perl Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p. m. Elder G. A. Willkte was sup ported by a group led by National Committeeman Ralph Cake, Portland, Oregon. Former Gov. Harold Stassen of Minnesota was supported by Minnesota and Wyoming groups. Gov. Thomas Dewey of New York was supported by a group headed by Committeeman Joe Montgomery.
