One Ashland youth is confined In the Community hospital and two others have been haled into city court as participants in what police described as a rather wild celebration which resulted in an automobile accident about 2:15 a. m. Wednesday. Police reported the acident occurred alter the trio, Chester Held, 19, driver of the car, and Paul Brady, 17, and Arthur Decker, to k,j t. . .. i ! from Medford where they "had a few drinks," acording to their story. Reid failed to negotiate one of the high drive curves and the car plunged down the bank apout 300 feet Brady was pinned under the car, and a wrecker had to be called to re move the wreckage before he could be extricated. He was taken to the hospital, and police report he suffered leg injuries and possible other injuries. The other two occupants were thrown clear of the car and re ceived only minor . injuries. They we're arrested and lodged In jail. Decker was fined (17.50 in city court yesterday on the charge of being drunk and in volved in the accident. Reid, arrested on charge of reckless driving and being involved in the accident was held for a later bearing. He was also In volved in violation of the gaso line ration regulations. Brady was fined $27.50 and his drivers' license was sus pended fcr six months on a charge of violation of the cur few law and drinking iiquor against parole orders of City Jud,e C. O. Presnall. He was involved with police last week in connection with contributing to the delinquency of a 15-year-old girl. He will face further charges for his part in the ac cident upon his release from the Hospital. signFof the times Chico, Cal., Sept 16 (U.B Signs of the times: A pair of nylon stockings sold $2,000 worth of war bonds at a theater rally last" night. A quart of well known bourbon whisky sold $1,900 worth, while a box of shotgun shells was good for $300. DAVID LEE CARTER PASSES AGED David Lee Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Carter of Eagle Point, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday. He was born in Klamitth Falls, Ore., August 16, 1927 He attended the schools at Eagle Point and would have been a junior in the high school this year. , Besides his parents, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Allen Weston of Port Townsend, Wash., and one brother, Richard Carter, at home. Funeral services will be con ducted from Perl Funeral home IB J-VILLE SCHOOLS OPENING MONDAY Friday at 2 p. m., the Rev. W. A. Dawes will officiate. Interment will take place In Siskiyou Memorial park. Jacksonville, Sept. 16 (Spl.) Jacksonville schools will open Monday at 9:30 a. m. for regis tration, and short-period classes will be conducted from 1 to 2:30 In the atternoon. The Applegate school bus will make its usual run from Sterling and the Applegate store, and the valley bus will operate on Thomas road, Jacksonville Phoenix highway, Stewart ave nue, Jacksonville-Medford high way and the Old Stage road.
