They're all grown up and some of them are in their 70s, but they love dolls so much they've organized "The Doll Collectors of America. Inc.." and already its membershlD has spread to 22 states. Besides collecting odd dolls for personal pleasure, the mem bers of thd organization have raised sums as high as $100,000 for benefits and charities. One member has raised $5000 for ait ferent churches in New England by lecturing on the dolls. Many of the original Boston charter members were childless women who turned to doll col lecting as a hobby. Some of their prizes date tack to 1700. The organ list ion started as a club to stimulate interest In the history and origin of dolls, but its extensive records on each doll have provided essential informs tion to clothes designers as -to the type of clothing worn at certain periods. Mrs. Earle E. Andrews, of Winchester, Mass., president of "The Doll Collectors of America, Inc.," for the last six years, has almost every room in her home filled with dolls. Besides keep ing records on her collection Mrs. Andrews maintains corres pondence with members In other states. Dolls from 20 states and 92 foreign countries are represented in the collection of Mrs. Thom as Ramsbottom of Pawtucket, R. I., who was past treasurer of the organization. Among her 400 dolls she has one that dates back to 1790. Some members like Mrs. Henry P. Kimball of Sharon, Mass., house their dolls in elab orate settings. She has a large doll house built to display her collection and furnished the house In mid-Victorian style. The house has seven rooms and even has one outfitted as nursery. Trading in stocks fell off from yesterday's page, which was the best of the year. PLAN NO INQUEST IN CONLEY DEATH AUTOIST WRECKS E - An Interruption of power and telephone service on rural lines resulted last night from an auto mobile accident near the inter section of the Buckshot Hill road and the Crater Lake high way. The car, said to have been operated by a Buckshot district resident, failed to make the turn onto the highway due to bad visibility and left the road, strik ing a power pole which broke off. In falling the pole dragged down telephone wires on an adjacent line. A crew of men from the Cali fornia Oregon Power company worked for about three hours before service was restored to all districts affected. Two new classes in national defense are being opened to morrow at senior high school one in general sheet metal and the other in aviation sheet metal. Classes will be held from 2:30 to 8:30 p. m. and 6:30 to 9:30 p. m. with Harold Van Hoosen as instructor. Registra tion for these classes may be made through the city school sunerintendent's office in the city hall or the state unemploy ment office. Fir and Sixth streets. Van Hoosen Is an experienced man In sheet metal lines nav- ins had 17 years experience in the work. He ownea his own shoD in Portland for three years and was shop foreman for Stark-Davit In Portland. The general sheet metal class Is open to all men over 16 years of age and women 16 to 39 years of age, and pay at de fense projects Is about 95 cents an hour. Aviation sheet metal classes are open to all men over 16 and to women, IS to 39 years of age. Pay for women is about 60 cents an hour and for men slightly higher depending on ability. Five cents an hour in crease In pay is given employes for the first five montns- em ployment. An urgent call Is be ing issued for women in uie aviation sheet metal classes. No Inquest will be conducted In the accidental death of Fred W. Conley, Prospect logger killed while working In the woods near that town yesterday morning. This statement was made today by Carlos Morris, deputy coroner who Investigat ed the accident. Mr. Morris saia that he was of the opinion the affair was "purely a freak acci dent" and that the two work men, P. F. Planer and "Shorty" Woods, Indirectly responsible were In no way to blame. The two men felled a tree which struck a second In falling. The second tree snapped off at the base and fell directly onto Conley, operating a caterplljar tractor about 80 feet away.
