Handley expressed his thanks for
the fair treatment accorded him
by the Pirates, adding that "I
don't blame you one bit for re
leasing me in view of the condi
tion of my arm.

In a game which started slow
ly but soon warmed to a hot
battle at the Medford Ice Arena
last night, the 01st Artillery
Gunners won a decided victory
over the 91st Infantry Snipers
by a score of 4 to 1, bringing
the Artillery's league standing
to 4 points for a tie with Denny
Edge's USO Bombers.
Werderber, star of the Artil
lery team, rammed home the
first goal for the Gunners after
14 Vi minutes of play in the slow
first period. Both teams warmed
up during the second period, but
the Snipers were no match for
the fine team play of the Gun
ners, who scored two goals, the
first by Llndstrom and the sec
ond by Engel, both unassisted.
In the middle of the third
period, Werderber scored the
fourth Artillery goal, this time
on an assist from Llndstrom.
Then the Infantry made a hard
try and with the best team play
they had shown during the game,
scored one on a play by Maloney
assisted by Musialowskl.
Next Tuesday night the 78th
General Hospital Clippers meet
the USO Bombers. This will be
another Ladies' Night at the
Medford Ice Arena, ladles with
escorts being admitted for a
small tax charge.
