To sort of whet your appetites, let's start off with Cornice pears and follow up with a bowl of cream of tomato soup. Along side a tomato aspic salad in the offing with pickles, olives, and celery hearts, to lead you on to drumsticks and white meat and all the rest of the best of roast Oregon torn turkey. None finer in all the land. Stuffed with sage dressing, too, as if the soldiers needed any seasoning for their eating. Giblet gravy will wend Its golden trail over mashed pota toes and cranberry and orange sauce will form two of the col ors of the stop light, while the green "go" ahead light will be supplied by the boys themselves, when they see the spread, fit indeed for His Majesty, "The American Soldier." Christmas eve will climax the yuletlda festivi ties of Zion English Lutheran church, West Fourth at Oakdale, it was announced by the pastor, the Rev. Karl W. Brockhaus. Special choir selections have been prepared together with a solo number by Mrs. Edwin An dren. The pastor will preach the Christmas sermon under the title "God's Christmas Revelation." The general public Is cordi ally invited to attend this serv ice as well as all service men of Camp White. Besides the special numbers prepared by the choir, the service will feature the singing of the old familiar Christmas carols and the candlelight ceremony will ibe used to symbolize the pass ing on of the Light of the world from mankind unto mankind. There will be no other wor ship service at Zion Lutheran church on Christmas day. Reese Creek Reese Creek, Dec. 23. (Spl.) Joe Payne returned Sunday to Camp Ord, Calif., after a week's furlough at home with Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Meyers, with whom he made his home for a number of years before joining the army. Mrs. Jack Gillaspy and Wayne were in Medford and Central Point, December .19, shopping and visiting relatives. Robert and James Smith are new pupils in the upper room at Reese Creek school, having enrolled December 17. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, have bought the Frank Thomas place.- They came here from California. Several residents have In stalled water and electric lights in their homes this winter, in cluding Truman Collins, Charles Cummons and Mrs. Agnes Mof fit. May Hitch Rides From Male Motorists But Wagging Thumb Frowned Upon. New York, Dec. 23. 0J.R5 Emily Post gave her approval today to lady defense workers who hitch rides from gentle men motorists. - Miss Post, who frowns on lifting the little finger when drinking tea, said it was simi larly bad form to jerk the thumb when hitch-hiking. "When signaling for a lift," she advised the Office of War Information, "a young woman. Instead of thumbing a ride,' should display bar defense iden tification tag much as a police officer displays his badge. This shows why she needs a lift, and also which plant she works in. If the driver is not going In her direction he does not stop." B or C Cars Only The lady should flag only car with a "B" or "C" ration sticker. Miss Post held, because that means it Is the car of an other worker, "possibly one who works In the same plant." Hitch-hiking should be under taken only at regular bus or trolley stops, she added, and on main traffic arteries. Miss Post had a word of warn ing about the amenities of hitch, hiking. "Workers," s h cautioned, "should remember that these "rides" are not social gathering and conversation Is not neces sary. If they must talk, they should stick to Impersonal sub jects.
