OREGON, MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1942 PLACE STICKERS Oregon motorists were warn' cd again today by the Office of Price administration that they muit display their mileage ra tion stickers conspicuously on their can at all times. Many driven have not been doing this. OPA reports. The OPA regula tions provide that no person may use a class A, B. C, T-l or T-2 coupon book unless cor responding sticker is affixed to bis car. If he has more than one book, the motorist should display only the sticker corresponding to his highest allotment and not both ticken which would tend to obscure the windshield. If a driver persists in driving with' out a sticker on view, he is running the risk of losing his mileage rationing book alto gether, the OPA said. Dealers were also warned by the OPA of the penalties In volved if they sold gasoline to a motorist who did not display a sticker corresponding to the type of ration book he held. Dealers who violate this regular tlon,.may be barred from receiv ing further deliveries, or from making further sales, the OPA dated. There la one bright spot In the picture for stranded motor ists. They can get one emer gency unit of gasoline from dealer in order to get their car to a source of supply but must leave their ration book with the dealer until their car la brought In for Identification. Holders of A, B, C and D coupon books were reminded gain that they must write their car license number and state on the back of the coupons when buying gasoline. REPORflSOF Motorists are asked by -the State OPA to report loss of any gasoline coupon book to their local rationing boards, to the police department, and If they hold a credit card, to their oil company. In the event of theft, acciden tal loss, destruction or mutila tion of any coupon book or bulk coupons, the OPA regulations provide that the holder may ap ply to his local rationing board lor replacement, said the state office. The holder must apply in writing, under oath, giving his name and address, class, date and place of Issuance of the book and it expiration date. Christensen; "Ave Maria" by Schubert, and "Hallelujah" from the "Messiah." STARTS DRIVE ON BELLS Santa Rosa, Cal. (SIX) This .city has donated its old fire bell 'to the war metal drive and urges sister municipalities to check up for encked or other unemployed fire bells. II At their regular Tuesday luncheon-meeting, the Kiwanis club of Medford made plans for their annual Christmas party for the "old folks" at the county home on the South Pacific highway. This party Is held every year by the Kiwanis club which furn ishes everything for the eve ning, and is looked forward to eagerly by the residents of the home. Plans were completed also for the luncheon next Tues day with the Kiwanian Dames invited. This la also an annual affair, highlighted by the ex change of Christmas gifts among memben and their ladles. The club voted unanimously last week to help furnish pati ents at the Camp White hospital with used games and books, with each member pledging to bring something to the coming meeting which might lighten the time for the soldiers confined to the hospital. W. E. "Gene" Thomas, president-elect of the club for the coming year, announced the ap pointment of S. M. Bums as per manent program chairman for IBM. OUTPOSTfiJTAKE In carrying out plana for se curing Victory Recreation Vol- unteera for Camp White recreat- tion programs the Outpost has been requested by the Jackson County Recreation committee to receive telephone calls from the VRV'a who are planning; to at tend the camp parties. VRV's are asked to telephone or call in person at the Outpost to sign for each party in ad vance so transportation can be provided. Buses will leave the chamber of commerce at 7:30 p. m. Scheduled parties requiring transportation during this week are: Formal dance at service club No. 1 tonight; recreation games party, December 28, Serv ice club No. 1. Special dance for 21st Field hospital, Decem ber 29 and New Year's eve party at Service club No. 2. Dr. George C. Ruhle, natural ist of Crater Lake National park since June of 1941. was sworn in as a lieutenant in the U. S. naval reserve at Portland, De cember 19 and has received ord ers to report December 28 for active duty at Fort Schuyler, The Bronx, N. Y., according to the park service. Dr. Ruhle, who came here from Glacier National park, left by train Friday evening for his new assignment He plans to stop at his old home town, Kan kakee, 111., to spend Christmas with his sister. Amount of the settlement waa not revealed.
