Basaar Postponed The wom en's organization of the First Christian church announced to day that the fruit sale and bazaar planned for this week has been postponed due to uncontrollable circumstances. Improper Lights State police arrested Harvey Rufus Cearley of Central Point Monday on a charge of having improper head lights on his motor vehicle. He was cited to appear in Justice court tomorrow. . Violators William Edward Short, of Trail, charged with hav ing no operator's license, was arrested by state police Sunday and was cited to appear in Jus tice court Dec. 11. Fredrick Samuel Hawks of Rogue River, charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, was cited to court to morrow. . Return Home Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Anderson have re turned to their home at 508 West Sixth street after a visit in Cas per, Wyo., where they were guests of three brothers and Mrs. Anderson's mother. En route they stopped at San Francisco and Oakland, Cal., where they visited another brother. In England Word has been received here that Victor Dal laire, former Medford resident, is stationed "somewhere in Eng land" with the U. S. air corps. He reports an Interesting Job in the headquarters office. Dallaire graduated from Medford high school, attended University of gon and prior to his service in the military forces was with United Press. Local Visitor Mrs. Jessie Johnson of Lake Benton, Minn., has been visiting for the past two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Birdsall of Route 4, Box 172. This is her first visit with her parents in IS years. She has also been visiting two brothers, W. S. Birdsall, whom she had not seen in 32 years, and H. E. Birdsall, whom she had not visited for 15 years. While on the Pacific coast she also plans to visit a sister, Mrs. Olive Too ley of Williams, Ore., and three other sisters, two of whom live in Oregon and one in Washing ton. Weekend In North Miss Lu cille Lenox has returned to this city after spending the weekend 1 in Roseburg with relatives. She formerly resided in that city and is employed by California-Oregon Power company. Regular Meeting Jackson County Medical society will meet in regular session tomorrow eve ning with a 7 o'clock dinner at the home of Dr. R. E. Green, 701 Park avenue. Colonel Charles G. Hutter of Camp White will pre sent the paper. No Meeting An announce ment was made today that there will be no meeting of the Roose velt Home and School circle Fri day but that members and par ents are invited to the school play, "Why the Chimes Ring," to be presented at the schoolhouse December 18, Special Meeting Pro Amer ica members will hold a special meeting Monday at 8 p. m. at the Sixth street lobby of oHtel Holland. The resignation of Mrs. C. M. Hopkins as president of the unit will be acted upon as will other important business mat ters. Members are urged to be present. DECEMBERRAINS If you think that December has been a wet month so far you're mistaken, according to figures from the weather bureau who says that to date only 1.06 inches of rain has fallen this month as compared to 3.17 inches for the first eight days of December, 1041. On Dec. 2, 1941, Medford was drenched with a total of 2.99 inches. It snowed .9 Inches on Dec. 16 and several days during the last of the month a trace of snow was recorded. The weather bureau observers stated that any number of years in the past have been wettev than this month to date. Thus far during the season which began September, accord ing to weather statistics, precipi tation has totalled 10.66 which is 8:43 inches above normal. Temperatures have been average for the month. P.-T. A. Activities Eagle Point-P.-T-A. has com pleted the Red Cross home nurs ing course with Mrs. Vema Johnson of Medford as instruc tor. Nineteen ladies finished the final class which met with Mrs. Bertha Young, president of the P.-T.A. All report a successful and enjoyable project. WAR BOND is the prise In the FINALS EACH MONTH L FOR RECREATION Withdrawal of WPA funds from communities by the fed eral government may have a saddening effect on the local community according to recrea tional leaders where the Med ford Nursery school and the Outpost for men in the armed forces are aided by this grant from the government. It is hoped that funds will be avail able through the Federal Se curity agency to continue these needed and worthwhile projects. Recreational facilities are especially needed at this time in Medford and vicinity, recreation leaders pointed out. The need of a recreational coordinator is especially seen In the com munity to aid the churches, lodges and granges in their task of offering worthwhile entertain ment to the soldiers now station ed at Camp White, and to par ents engaged in defense activi ties and employment who have young children of nursery school age. Spangler, 61, Iowa, was elected chairman of the republi can national committee late Monday in a compromise maneu ver after Wendell Willkie suc cessfully opposed the election of Werner W. Schroeder of Illinois. Spangler's election ended a deadlock which compelled the committee to recess after two inconclusive ballots. Willkie objected to Schroeder because of suspicion that he represented an isolationist ele ment in the party. Spangler is a republican vet eran who last was notably prom inent as midwestern manager of Alt M. Landon'a 1836 presi dential campaign. .2 Boy Scout Troop 2 held its War Service Mobilization pro gram at Lincoln school Monday evening with E. M.
