Lecture Series The Jackson County Health Department will present a series of lectures for prospective mothers starting Tuesday at 1:30 to 3:30 p. m. in the health department in the county courehouse. The lectures, which will be presented each Tuesday at the same time and place for the next nine weeks, will be given by Miss Elizabeth Galllard. All Interested are cor dially invited to attend. .... DeGrave, in charge of navy re cruiting In Oregon, the Portland recruiting district is authorized to enlist the following ratings for immediate transfer and duty at the new naval air base at Pasco, Washington: 15 Junior typists, 4 typewriter repairmen, 8 men with f irehouse experience, 1200 apprentice seamen, 100 avi "ation machinists' mates, 10 radio men, 4 dlesel mechanics, 4 sta tionary firemen, 5 cooks, 10 aviation sheet metal appren tices. Jail Sentence Oliver Wil lard Minter was sentenced to 10 days in the city Jail, fined $50 and had his driver's license re voked for 90 days in city police court today on a charge of reck less driving. Minter was operat ing a passenger car on North Central avenue yesterday and In turning onto Jackson boulevard collided with the motorcycle being driven by City traffic of ficer Dick Baize at the Inter section of North Central avenue and Jackson boulevard. Both the motorcycle and automobile were damaged. Nary Enlistments Enlist ments in the navy during tne past week include: Ransom W. Webster, 135 Vancouver, man ager of Roxy Ann Confection ery, enlisted as ships' cook; James Hickman, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hickman of 207 Haven: Walter Griffith, and John Darland of Route 1, Wil bur Eicher, of Route 2, Charles Smith. Robert Callahan, and Stanley Johnson of Ashland, Harold Dexter, Theodore Jor- gensen, Harry McGregor of Yreka, California- AU men were accepted for enlistment through the Medford navy recruiting office. Grenbemer Elected Head of Jackson Co. Paralysis Chapter William Grenbemer was elect ed president of the Jackson County chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Para lysis held yesterday. Mrs. Lewis Ulrich will serve as secretary treasurer with Dr. A. E. Merkel. Mrs. J. C. S. Weills and Mrs. Blanche Frisbie as directors. The annual meeting included the treasurer's report and dis cussion of plans for the Presi dent's Birthday ball In January. Dr. Merkel reported two cases of polio in the county recently, both of which have recovered satisfactorily. Mrs. Frisbie announced that two prominent specialists in polio are coming to Medford soon for consultation with the health department and Mrs. Weills, speaking for the Jack son County Health association, plans to use a moving picture as well as the presence of the speakers in a coming polio cam paign. .
