Gilles pie of 1315 East .Main street and John R. Marsh, son of Harry J. Marsh of 60 North Orange street, were graduated Septem ber 4 from the U. S Naval Air Station t Corpus Christi, Texas and commissioned as ensigns in the U. S. naval reserve. ' Both volunteered for naval flignt truning in October, 1941. and after receiving their basic flight instruction were trans (erred to Corpus Chrlstl. Ensign Gillespie attended Ore gon State college and the South ern Oregon College of Education, and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He was also a mem ber of tnt O S. C. boxing team and the ski club. ' Ensign Marsh attended the University of Southern Califor nia and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. at the hall October 1. Tanny Long. Ethel Roark and Marie Christensen were named on the tlower committee for next six Grange meetings. Next H.E.C mrotinc will be at Granee hall. at I p. m., and ladies are asked to come prepared to am in clean ing the hall. The Fish, Shunterman and Puh! families are on the next serving committee. Roxy Anne Grange Roxy Ann Grange held reg ular session Friday with a good attendance Including several vis itors. Margaret Tedrich, Verna Quackenbush, Hazel Chase and C. C. Chase were obligated In first and second degrees. Members voted in unanimous ly to adopt the "Keep Oregon Green for victory and future generations" resolution. A copy of this resolution will be dis played at our hall throughout the 1942 fire season. At the close ten tables of bunco were In play. High prizes were awarded Mrs. C. C. Chase and Eugene Nowlln, low were Roscoe Roberts and Virginia Luman. Refreshments were served by Minnie Cameron and Susan Of-fard. The Grange Riil Hill Granaa There was a good attendance at the September 3 meeting of the Gold Hill Grange. Mr. and Mrs. Roark, Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Lee were obligated In first and second degrees by the past mas ter, E. C. Fiene. Ralph 'Wlgle. and William O. Howes were named to meet Sep tember 8 with the county sal vage committee. Master Howes reported the Co op now has feed mill In oper ation. . The lecture program given by the A's, B's and C's included a trumpet and piano duet by Bob Burton and Evelyn Christensen; reading, Lillian Autenrelth: pantomime, Herman Ford, Chris tensen, Cameron Chaffee and Autenrelth families and Bob Burton.
