Millican, Ore., Aug. 18 (IP) Billy Rahn, the one-man town faced his knottiest problem to day with heavy heart and droop ing mustache. No matter what he does, the way he sees it now, he loses. Either he closes up Millican, which he made famous and vice- versa, or he takes unto himself a bride. He faces this unpleasant choice because Uncle Sam in sists he is too old he was 70 Sr.nday to continue as Mulli can's postmaster after August 31. And he needs the postmaster's rlary to remain solvent. If he walks away and leaves his one-man town, he loses a tidy little investment in a com bination store, filling station and postoffice which serves ranchers of this desolute central Oregon plateau, plus his one and only source of fame. If he trips down the aisle and says "I do," he can stay on in Millican because his wife could qualify as assistant postmaster, which is permissable under postal regulations. But he still loses the wame the one-man town's population immediately doubles not to mention his in dependence. The people here have to settle it." But the shortage of wood, and coal and oil, too, for that mat ter, can and will be averted, he said. Estimates show Washington and Oregon will have to have a million tons more coal, however, than local mines can produce. Getting it here will be a prob lem. E Chicago, Aug. 18. (P) For eight hours police and truck drivers sought unsuccessfully to round up five steers that scamp ered from an overturned truck to a nearby prairie. The police came with a patrol wagon and the truck drivers tried to herd them into a hastily-built corral of trucks.
