under the U. S. engineers in
Alaska and men with sea ex
perience to serve on U. S. army
transports are needed immedi

clerks ranges from $1,620 to
$2,000 per year, plus liberal
overtime pay.
Enrolling Man The United
States maritime service is en
rolling apprentice seamen for
training to become able-bodied
seamen in ships of the American
merchant marine. Candidates
for the training must be be
tween 18 and 30 years of age.

All-Day Meeting Residents
of Rogue River valley are invit
ed to an all-day meeting with
the Church of God at the church
camp grounds on the Rogue Riv
er tomorrow at which time a
ramp meeting will be in prog

10:30 a. m. followed by an after

returned from Los Angeles
where she attended fall show
ings of yarns. Although the
war and priorities have limited
the availability of yarns still
many new types and colors are
stocked for customers.
Among the new stitches Mrs.
Milestone brought back to Med
ford is the type for knitting re
versible sweaters, a garment
knit with two threads which
may be worn on either side
Mrs. Milestone replaces Mrs.
Mary Crosflcld who has accept
ed a position at an exchange at
Camp White.
Mrs. Alto N. Prultt also has
returned to this city after a trip
to San Francisco last week by

storage-in-transit privileges had
been extended by transcontin
ental railroads to include frozen
fruits and vegetables originat
ing on the Pacific coast, making
additional coastal storage facili
ties available for military pur
poses. The new arrangements will
permit frozen fruits and vege
tables to be forwarded for stor
age to interior points in the
west, south and east.
