Jack Hodges of route 2, Medford, and M. D. 5hulta of S30 South Central ave nue were operators of cars which were involved in a minor accident at the Central and Main streeti intersection Sunday at 7:30 i). m. Mrs. Margaret Crowl of RFD 4 and Ernest Reames of Route 3 were involved in a minor collision on the Fern Val ley road yesterday at 2 p. m.. a report stated. CENTRAL PT. Sturgeon, wounded in the Mid way battle, is a survivor of the U. S. destroyer Hammann. The rapidly growing list of local men who have enlisted In the U. S. navy's construction battalion was increased by four this week. It was announced to day by Jack M. Carpenter, CEM, Medford navy recruiter. All were enlisted at the Portland recruiting headquarters after be ing accepted here. George Robertson of the Hotel Medford, former manager of the Rogue Valley Golf club, was en listed as a construction foreman; Charles Lester Wilson of 801 West 11th street, former Pros pect high school coach and teacher, joined the construction battalion; Carl C. Pyle of 847 South Holly street, an employe of the California-Oregon Power company, was enlisted as a chief electrician's mate and Donald G. DeLisle of Ashland, employe of Hal's Camera shop here, was enlisted as photographers as. sistant. The men will be called to duty when their companies are formed, probably in a month or six weeks. L OREGON SOLDIERS TO HAVE VOTE PRIVILEGE Salem, Aug. 12. (JP) Ore gon members of the armed forces who will be away from home on November 3, general election day, will be permitted to vote by absentee ballot, Secretary of State Earl Snell said today. Hare of the 91st Infantry division, sta tioned In the Jackson county Chamber of Commerce to aid wives and families of military personnel in locating living ac commodations, said today a new system had been Installed de signed to simplify the placing of those seeking quarters. Apartments, rooms and houses available for rent are card in dexed, and Immediately upon a unit being rented the card is removed from the file. He also explained that addresses of available .housing unHs were now being given to only a few at a time of those seeking ac commodations, thus eliminating to a great extent a "rush" of ap plicants to any single available accommodation. Lieutenant Hare requested that anybody having rooms, houses or apartments to rent to list them at the chamber office.
