U ;Y A W s6$M 'rff' ( if Delightful comedy without a shadow of remorse comes to the screen of the Cool Craterian Theatre today for a three-day engagement with Norma Shear er and Robert Taylor in "Her Cardboard Lover." Featuring George Sanders, Frank McHugh and Elizabeth Patterson in top roles. "Her Cardboard Lover", comes to Medford as one of the leading comedies of this year. The narrative presents a charming visitor at Palm Beach, Miss Shearer, who is desperately in love with Tony, portrayed by George Sanders but convinced that he is a ne'er-do-well. In order to evade his attentions she retains Terry, a handsome young song writer, to squire her around the resort and keep Tony at a distance. Taylor appears in the role with alacrity. Naturally, this arrangement develops complications, all of them laughable. It also brings on a pitched battle between Tay lor and Sanders, equally humor- l ous. (JP) With the announcement that 5,000 de fense Industry jobs were open In Tacoma with no takers, many retail stores, "now closed by labor strike, may not open their doors again for the dura tion of the war. This fear was expressed by the heads of several large store owners and by union officials when 30 retail stores, including all department stores and most of the concerns handling furni ture, ready to wear, shoes and variety goods, failed to open for business today.
