King, killed on the Green Springs highway Monday night when his automobile left the road on a curve, was sent to Klamath Falls yesterday by the Conger Funeral parlors, for services and interment. King had been working at Camp White and was en route to a ' new construction Job in Salt Lake City when the accident oc curred. e e Three Arrested Three arrests were made by state police yes terday for motor law violations. O Alfred Bryan Hall, 319 S. New town street, was charged with operating a car without a muf fler, Ira Norman King, 215 Iowa street, was picked up for having an overloaded truck and Dale Lloyd Kelling, R. 3, for failure to stop at a sign. Hall and Kel ling will appear in court tomor row and King was to appear this afternoon. Navy Enlistments During this week the following named men were enlisted in the United States navy at Portland: Edward Evanson, 930 South Grape; Har old Pearson, 608 West Main; Ray Christie, Route 1; Jack Evans, Clifford Birk, Cecil Rob erts, all of Phoenix: Charles Frost, Talent; Oran Hoxworth. Jacksonville; Frank Scott, Ash land; Gerald Cook of Montague. California. Evanson and Pearson were enlisted in the naval con struction battalion and all oth ers were enlisted for regular naval service. All men were enlisted through the Medford " navy recruiting office. Man Is Fined John Junior Otterstetter, 51, was given a fine of f 10 in police court this morn ing on a charge of being drunk. Robert Baer forfeited $5 bail when he failed to appear to answer a charge of breaking glass on pavement. Bicyclers Fined BUI McCord and Kenneth White, Medford youths, were both fined $1 In police court this morning on charge of riding their bicycle on the sidewalk. Charles H. Herman, 18. was fined $10 for violation of the basic traffic law. Meeting Postponed The reg ular meeting of the local Red Cross motor corps scheduled for next Monday evening has been postponed, according to Capt. Blanche Morrill. Further activi ties of the corps are being plan ned and will be discussed at a meeting the date of which will be announced soon, Capt. Mor rill states. ' Cars Collide Cars driven by Mae Helen Hilkey of Klamath Falls and Mrs. W. L. Kuhn of 823 N. Central avenue were in volved in a slight accident at the intersection of Sixth street and North Central avenue Wednes day, according to a report on file. Only minor damage result ed. A. L. Paris of Route 1 and A. L. Goldberry of Medford were drivers of cars which col lided on Main street in front of the Community hospital yester day, a report on file states. S. internal revenue, today warned motorists that tomorrow would be the last day on which they would be able to purchase their $5 federal motor vehicle stamps at the Medford postoffice and escape a penalty. After tomorrow. Gray ex plained, stamps will not be on sale at any of Oregon' post offices and motorists will have to purchase them from the in ternal revenue office in Port land. He added that motorists not obtaining the stamps by August 1, from the postoffice, would be forced to pay a pen alty. OLD LlCENSETAGS .50 FINE George H. Heryford, county sanitarian, was fined $2.50 and costs for having no license plate on a truck, in justice court yes terday. Heryford told the court the truck belonged to a neigh bor, and when he borrowed it he did not notice the license plates that expired last June. Glen. S. Powell of Eagle Point, charged with operating an auto without a muffler, was assessed $1 and costs: Fred A. Culver, $5 and costs for no license on a truck, and Robert D. Porter $1 and costs for failure to stop at a stop sign. The offenses oc curred on the Midway road ana all concerned are cantonment workers. REP. LEAVY RESIGNS Washington, July 30 Ut) Representative Leavy (D., Wash.) submitted his resignation as a house member today, effective August 1. IS KILLED BY BLAST Rainier, Ore., July 30. JP) Seaman Second Class William F. McKlnsey, 20, of the U. S. coast guard, was killed about 9 p. m. yesterday in a blast aboard a 28-foot picket boat which was refueling at the dock here. Coast guard authorities at As toria said after an investigation that the cause of the blast had not been determined. Two other crewmen had stepped from the boat to the dock to aid in the refueling and escaped injury. The boat was not badly damaged although the top of the cabin was blown off.
