MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD. OREGON, FRIDAY. JULY 17, 1942. PAGE THREB COUNCIL CALLED TO MEET EXPERT The Jackson county council on Nutrition for Defense met last evening in the office of the home demonstration agent, called by Miss Marian Farrell, chairman of the nutrition coun cil, in order that the council members could discuss the nutri tion program with Miss Rae Russell, nutritionist with the Federal Security agency. Miss Russell has visited 18 of the counties in Oregon and a ) number of California to investi gate the county nutrition pro grams. From her experiences elsewhere. Miss Russell made many valuable suggestions as to means of improving our county program. Miss Russell was much Im pressed by the fact that of the 40 rural schools in Jackson county, 32 have a school lunch program. It is the desire of the school lunch committee to offer assistance to the local schools In improving lunch programs already operating, and to pro mote establishment of new school lunch rooms. Miss Russell also met with representatives of the Red Cross at the home of Mrs. Harry Holmes. Miss Russell left Medford this I morning for Grants Pass to meet with the Josephine county nu trition council and then will re turn to her headquarters in San Francisco.
