UTILITYVALUES FIXED BY TAXES Salem, July 18 (JPl The state tax commission announced today the utility assessments for each of the 36 counties, the state totals being $172,150,810 assessed value and $316,788,153 cash value. The assessed value is up $3,- 3Q0:000 from last year. The assessed value shows an Increase In Multnomah county over last year of $1,401,070, and the increase in other counties of $1,881,765. The full cash value and assessed value of utility proper ties in counties includes: Douglas $11,031,331 and o. 818.799. Jackson $13,388,708 and $8, 134.888. Josephine 4,225,270 and $2.-281,646. Base Hospital Unit Off To Active Duty Portland, July 16 (IP) Fifty three physicians, 97 nurses and 96 enlisted men of base hospital 46, enlisted at the University of Oregon medical school, were n route today to army training bases. The physicians and nurses left yesterday for Fort Riley, Kas.. and the enlisted men' for Fort Lewis. Th latter group will go to Fort Riley later. Eccles Will Wind Up Interim Committee Salem, July 16 Gover nor Charles A. STRICT REPRESSION OF PROSTITUTION IS URGED Portland, July 16 Wi Strict repression of prostitution was urged today by Dr. Frederick D. Strieker, state health officer, as the only means of combatting venerea) disease. Segregated districts, with medical inspection of prostitutes cannot solve the problem, he said, urging public support of the present repression program in Oregon cities.
