McHenry made application at the city in spector's office yesterday to build a residence and garage at 129 Willamette avenue at a stat ed cost of $3,000. Rynning Returns Paul B. Rynning, county engineer, re turned to Medford today from Chicago, HI., where for the past fortnight he has been attending a Shriners' convention. He is gain at his desk and attended today's session of the county court. Rynning reported a pleas ant trip, plenty of defense activ ity and nice weather. Leave Thuriday Lieut. Marsh of Jacksonville were drivers of passenger cars involved In- minor collision about eight miles north of Medford on the Crater Lake highway yesterday at 6:30 a. m. according to a report on file. Dean of 320 North Ivy street and daughter, Mrs. Dale Fomcrook of 718 East Jackson boulevard have returned from a week's trip to Oakland, San Francisco and Palo Alto, Calif. They visited Mrs. Dean's daugh ter and family, Mrs. Kenneth Shrayer in Oakland. Equipment Stolen H.. P. Nel son of 712 Pine street reported to city police yesterday that fly rod, reel and line were taken from his car recently. Zeno Wood of Hotel Grand also re ported to city police that two fishing rods and a flashlight had been removed from his car which was parked in a city lot. 0. L DAVIS RITES HELD IN ASHLAND Funeral services were held Monday in Ashland for O. L. Davis, who passed away Satur day at his home in that city. The services, at the Litwiller Funeral home, were conducted by the Rev. D. D. Randal of Medford, assisted by the Rev. Earl Downing of Ashland. Mrs. Pete Burreson of Gold Hill, and Mrs. A. B. Collet of Grants Fass, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and Mrs. Buford Howard of Ashland sang "The City Four Square."- Mr. Davis was born in Paris, Lamar county, Tex., April 2, 1882. His mother died when he was four years old and his father a few years later. He came to Medford in July, 1909 and was foreman of the Rogue River Canal, Co. for four years and helped run the irriga tion ditches on the desert north east of Medford. Later he went to Grants Pass and was fore man of the River Banks ranch for over four years. He was married to Miss Aeh sah E. Davis. October 7, 1914, at the residence of her mother. Mrs. Minnie C. Chase near Grants Pass. Mr. Davis was foreman of the Charles Dunlap place in Table Rock for four years. He was employed in orchards for sev eral years in Sams Valley and Table Rock. The last four years he has resided in Ashland. His son. Private Monroe E. Davis, stationed at Sheppard field, Tex., obtained a furlough to come home and see his father and was able to be with him until he passed away and re mained for the funeral. Other survivors are his wife, his four daughters, Mary Esther, Etna B., Olive M. and Ida Belle; one brother, J. W. Davis and two sisters, Mrs. Huldah Larl- more and Mrs. Olive M. Brad ley of Wasola. Ceefela Mary Brown Holmes, 78, a pioneer resident of South ern Oregon, where she hat lived all of her life, passed away it Eagle Point, Ore., Tuesday after a prolonged Illness. Mrs. Holmes was born at Jacksonville, Jan. 6, 1886. She attended the schools of Southern Oregon, and was unit ed In marriage to S. B. Holmes on Sept. 16, 1896. Mr.' Holmes passed away Aug. 26, 1930. Mrs. Holmes is of a pioneer family of eleven children, four of whom have preceded her in death. Surviving are four broth ers. R. G. Brown, W. H. Brown and J. F. Brown, of Eagle Point M. J. Brown of Medford, three sisters, Mrs. Cora O'Brien of Washougal, Wash., Mrs. Lottie Van Scoy. of Eagle Point, and Mrs. Harry Carleton, of Ash land. : Funeral services will be con ducted from Perl Funeral Home Thursday at 2 P. M., Rev. Keith Fields officiating. Interment will take place in Jacksonville cemetery. Pallbearers, all longtime friends of the family, will be William E. Perry. Ray Harnish, P. J.
