Hunt In Church Setting At a home wedding Saturday evening, June 13, at 7 o'clock at Breaux Bridge, La., Mls Ann Broussard, daughter of Mri. William Bourdier became the bride of Lieut Cecil C. Hunt, Jr., United States army, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Hunt of this city. The ceremony was read by the Rev. P. A. Borel of the Com' munity church in a setting of 'white hydrangeas, cape Jasmin and fern. The bride chose a gown of white imported organdy with a large picture hat and illusion veil and carried a bouquet of orchids. The couple was unat tended. Mrs. Bourdier, the bride's mother, wore a gown of navy blue marqulssette and a corsage of orchids. Following the ceremony about ISO guests attended the recep tion. The bride first cut the cake with Mrs. Paul Angelle. Jr., completing the cutting and Mrs. Laurel Brownlee presiding at the urn. For traveling Mrs. Hunt wore a beige suit with tan and brown accessories and an orchid cor sage. Lieut, and Mrs. Hunt spent a few days in New Orleans, then continued west by the southern route stopping at Juarez, Mexi co, Los Angeles and San Fran cisco, Cat. They stopped a few days in this city with Lieut. Hunt's parents and are now in Portland where they have been feted at numerous social events by friends. Mrs. Hunt was graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute and Is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She has been teaching in the elementary department of the Breaux Bridge high school. Lieut. Hunt, a graduate of Hill Military academy, attended Uni versity of Oregon at Eugene where he was a member of Sig ma Alpha Epslton fraternity. He was the first officer to re ceive his oath of office at Camp White. A reception honored the couple at the Hunt home in this city last Monday evening with 130 guests attending. Among those present were Lieut. Hunt's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. I. P. Inman of Eugene. Presiding at the service table were Mrs. Theron Bean, Mrs. Vern Robinson and Mrs. A. B. Drury. Assisting about the rooms were the Misses Dorothy Jenkins, Clenda Worth, Opal Barnhart, Irene Charley and Elida Dailey. Former Med ford Resident Weds In San Diego Of interest to friends In south ern Oregon Is announcement of the marriage of Miss Frances Farwell Ferry of Llvermore. Cal and Lieut. Gordon Louts Perske, of Eureka, Cel., at the All Saints Episcopal church at San Diego, Sunday, June 14, at 1:13 p. m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hewitt Ferry, formerly of this valley, now residing in Livermore, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Louis E. Perske of Eureka, Cal. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a white silk Jersey gown with a finger-tip veil. She was attended by her twin sister, Mrs. Bert M. .Morris (Elizabeth Leigh Ferry) of Wll-i mington, Del., who chose an outfit of delphinium blue with matching hat. Captain George, S. Snodgrass attended the bridegroom as best man. Ushers were the bride's brother. Dr. John Douglass Ferry of Boston and William Howard Ferry, Jr., of San Diego, cousin of the bride. A reception followed at Park Manor where the Ferry family is residing. Mrs. Ferry selected a beige suit with lace bodice and orchid hat for the wedding. After a wedding trip to I-ake Arrowhead the couple will re side at 027 Center street. La Jollo, Cal. Mrs. Perske Is a graduate of Stanford university where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honorary. Fol lowing graduate work she has been instructor in English in Salinas high school. Lieut. Perske, with the U. S. army, is a graduate of University of Cal ifornia and affiliated with Theta Chi social fraternity. Visitors Return To Nebraska Home Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Webster of Grand Island, Neb., have been visiting for the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Jarmln and family, 814 Sher man street. Mr. Webster is a brother of Mrs. Jarmln. The visitors left Friday evening by train for Nebraska and expect to return to Medford in the near future where they will make their permanent bom. Weds In East III! ml Mrs. Cecil C. Hunt, Jr., whose marriage was read at Breaux Bridge, La., June 13. She Is the former Anne Broussard, daugh ter of Mrs. William Bourdier. Lieut, and Mrs. Hunt were re cent visitors at the Cecil C. Hunt home In this city. Junior Guild Plans Picnic For Coming Month Miss Jean Piatt was hostess to Junior Guild of St. ' Mark's Episcopal church Tuesday at her home on Jackson boule vard. Plans were completed for a guild picnic to be held July 7 at the Girls Day Camp with Mrs. Dick Watson as chairman. She will be assisted by Mrs William Rutherford, Mrs. Jennie Reese, Mrs. Dick Wray and Mrs. Floyd Baker. Later Claude Haggard, first aid chairman for Jackson coun ty Red Cross, showed motion pictures on first aid activity and mentioned the necessity of all who are able to participate in first aid courses being offered, as a means of perhaps saving a life at some time. The next meeting will be held July 14 at the home of Dorothy Burgess, 412 South Oakdale avenue, with Berenice Reames as assistant hostess. Recording Party Enjoyed By Guests Something new to Medford was a recording party held at the home of Opal Bryant, 430 North Holly street Friday eve ning. Miss Bryant acted as mis tress of ceremonies and each guest was announced over a pub lic address system. The first two hours of the evening were spent In making recordings of a truth or conse quences program. Later the records were reproduced for the entertainment of the guests. Re freshments were served and dancing enjoyed. Attending were Arelea An drews, Mrs. Beulah Osburn, Jackie Palmer, Nellie Nipper. Marriage Date Is Announced Friends in this city have re ceived Invitations to the ap proaching marriage of Josephine Jean Garland to L. Clark Nntt kemper of Long Beach, Cal., a former Medford resident. Miss Garland Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jepson. The ceremony will be read July 11 at 4 p. m. at Menlo Park, Cal. Mr. Nattkemper Is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley and later took gradu ate work at Oregon State col lege. While residing In Med ford he was engaged In pathe ologlcal work for Oregon State college at the Medford experi ment station. 1 Lively Rogues Hold Sport Dance Lively Rogue Dancing club members concluded their danc ing season Wednesday evening with sports affair at the K. of P. hall. Music was fur nished by Sleeve Whipple and his orchestra. The club will resume Its monthly dances In September. Renken New President Mrs. C. A. Renken wai elect ed president of Medford So journers club at the semi-annual election Thursday afternoon dur ing the regular meeting of the club at the Girls' Community club. She replaces Mrs. John McCabe, who has been acting president for the past few weeks. Other officers elected were Mrs. R. R. Stroud, vice president, Mrs. R. C. Wright, secretary, and Mrs. Orin L. Brown, treasurer. Mrs. Renken has been secretary of the organ ization for the past term and other retiring officers are Mrs. Jack Davis and Mrs. Ragnar Unden. During the business meeting the group voted to make a contribution of $10 to the cur rent U. S. O. drive for funds. Prospective members introduced were Mrs. Oscar Lauderbeck, formerly of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Donald Underdown, for merly of Pasadena, Calif. Cards and sewing followed the business session, with prizes awarded to Mrs. Norman Fuller, Mrs. John McCabe, Mrs. Edwin Andren, Mrs. Frank Heaton and The door prize went to Mrs. Clayton Jacobsen. Mrs. Laurence Buonocore was chairman of the hostess com mittee, assisted by Mrs. Jacob sen, Mrs. Hugh Erickson and Mrs. Sam Campbell. Dessert was served from a table decorated with sweet peas and candles. Medford Man Takes Bride In Memorial Chapel News has been received in this city of the marriage of Jane Anderson of Bakersfield, Cal., and William H. Walker of this city, now a lieutenant in the U. S. army air corps, at Stan ford Memorial chapel in Palo Alto, Cal., Saturday, June 20. The bride Is the daughter of Mrs. Adolph Anderson of Zum- brota, Minn., and a graduate of University of Minnesota. The bridegroom, the son of Mrs. W. W. Walker of 842 East Main street, is graduated from Stan ford university and was associ ated with the Commercial Fi nance corporation until entering the army. They will make their home in Kings City, Cal. 1 Local Visitor Returns To Bay City Mrs. G. Fletcher Williams has returned to her home in San Francisco after a 10-day stay in this city where she visited her mother, Mrs. Minnie Diamond, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grigsby of the Old Stage road. Prospect Home extension unit had an all day meeting at the home of Mrs. Richard Tubman at Union Creek. June 19. At the morning session. Miss Mar lon Farrell, home demonstra tion agent, gave an Interesting and Instructive demonstration and lecture on canning and dry ing fruits. Picntc lunch was enjoyed on the lawn at noon. Garden Clubs Enjoy Meeting At Barnum Home Members of the Medford. Phoenix, Jacksonville and Cen tral Point Garden clubs were guests of Mrs. Berthold Barnum at her home near Phoenix Wed nesday. Metzger of Jacksonville grad uated from Jacksonville high school and has been attending Southern Oregon College of Edu. cation for the past two years. Mariners Enjoy Outdoor Social, Swimming Party Friends and members of the Mariners class of the First Chris tian church and their families motored to Helman's Bath In Ashland Wednesday evening. After swimming, box lunches were auctioned off by Wayne Wakefield. Skipper Mabel Smith presided at a short business meeting. The class has voted to hold a Bible study group, meeting two eve nings a month. Seaman Ernest Savage is to be the leader for the evening of July 10 at his home. The Wheel Crew, manned by Seamen Isole and Wayne Wake field and assisted by Seamen Mabel and Clarence Smith, and Marjorie and Ronnie Gandee was in charge of the picnic. Barbara Dorris Weds Ensign Billo In Quiet Ceremony Miss Barbara Dorris, daughter of Mrs. Vada Lewis of 511 South Holly street and Ensign James D. Billo, son of Mrs. M. Eve Billo of Portland were quietly married Monday at 1:30 p. m. in the parish house of Sacred Heart church. The wedding was read by the Father Francis W. Black, pastor of Sacred Heart church In the presence of the mothers of the couple. The bride chose a beige suit with blue accessories and a corsage of gardenias and roses. Mrs. Lewis wore a black en semble with a corsage of sweet peas and Mrs. Billo selected a navy blue suit with a similar corsage. After a wedding trip to Dia mond Lake the couple returned to Medford for a short time and will reside In San Diego. The bridegroom is an ensign with the U. S. naval air corps. Mrs. Billo attended Oregon State college and Is affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma so cial sorority. Ensign Billu also attended Oregon State college. Surprise Shower Held At Camp A surprise handkerchief show er honored women residents of the Four Corner Trailer park who departed this last week after residing in Jackson county. The affair was held Monday evening at Mrs. Faun Hubbell's home. Honored were Mrs. Lois Black and Mrs. R. E. Allan and after an evening of visiting re freshments were served. Attending were Mrs. Evelyn Dixon, Mrs. E. D. Ivy, Mrs. Faun Hubbell, Mrs. Helen King, Mrs. R. E. Allan, Mrs. Verna Wilson, Mrs. Roy Ambler and Mrs. Lois Black. 1 Childreths Leave For Vacation Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Childreth of South Peach street left today for a short vacation. They plan to motor north through Bend and spend several days at Tim bcrline Lodge near Portland and visit relatives in Oregon City. Members Receive Honors At State Conclave Members of Elta Deuel Hubba Tent, No. 11, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861. 63, heard highlights of the state convention held in Port land recently when they met in the tent room Friday evening. Dr. Susie V. Standard, delegate to the state conclave reported activities of the gathering. Local members received hon os, both national and state, at the session. Ora Cox, national department Junior vice presi dent, carried with her endorse ment of the local tent for high est national honors. She was initiated into the Royal Order of the Rose by the Portland delegates. Grace Schade, was elected department guide and Dr. Susie V. Standard, depart ment chaplain. Plans were made for a rum mage sale to be held July 11 In the Scott Davis building on North central avenue. Delegates Report On Grand Session Held In Portland Reports on the 53rd grand session of Order of Eastern Star in Portland were heard Tues day at the meeting of Nevita chapter. No. 93, O.E.S., at Cen tral Point Masonic temple. Beu rah Faber, traveling flag com mittee; Bertha Bonney, worthy matron; Lillie Holt, associate matron, and Hensley Holt, as sociate patron, represented Ne vita chapter at the session. Visitors at the meeting last week were Ruth Freed and Marie Ettinger of Reames chap ter. No. 66, Medford; Grace Shrier of Adin, Cal., and Norma Head of Blue River lodge, Eugene. Following the meeting a social hour was enjoyed in the dining room with arrangements in charge of Bertha Bursell, Olive Dean, Frank Dean, Mollie Neals and Mabel Bennett. The chapter adjourned until September 8. W. T. H. Club Meets At Cushman Home Mrs. William Cushmai. was hostess at a meeting of the W. T H. club at the home of Mrs. street Tuesday of this week. Mrs. Iral Nelson of Beaverton, former member, was guest for the evening. Plans were made to hold the July meeting in 'the evening with husbands as guests. The decorations carried out a patriotic theme. Attending were the Mesdames Harold Aberle, C. H. Davis, Henry Halvorsen, Art Knudsen, Ray Marks, Ralph Markwart, John Steger, Sam Stelnbrecher, Elton Waldron. Willis Williams, Iral Nelson and the hostess. Church Group Hears Program on China A program entitled "Chang ing Environments in China" was enjoyed Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist church by members of the Women's Spo iety of Christian Service.
