PAGE SEVEN Committee On Hospitality Learns Soldiers' Dislikes What the soldier dislikes ii a topic of Interest to all. thinks the volunteer home hospitality committee which is lining up homes throughout the county to participate in entertainment ot service men. The war services division ot the Works Projects administration suggests a number of points in the soldier's dis favor. If you want to be a good hos tess, one to be remembered by the service men, open your home to soldiers and create an atmosphere of informality and remember a few of the follow ing items. Mrs. C. Rease Braley, who heads the home hospitality committee and her members, suggest that these ideas be clipped and saved for future re ference. Here are a few of the dis likes: Over-organization, insti tutional atmosphere; straight rows of chairs, bright overhead lights, old magazines, be forced to play games on arrival; pat ronizing people, gushing women; war talk, shop talk; people who ask too many personal ques tions or pry into their back ground; people who fuss over them like a mother hen over chicks; girls who babble on and girl, especially a "lemon. Gasoline tax estimates were off far more. The 1941 yield was $12,868,344, the 1942 estimate was $11,328,833, the 1943 guess $8,137,972 and the 1944 estimate $4,(29,319. Truck revenues under utility commission permits are expect ed to slump from the high of $1,297,788 in 1941 to $830,583 in 1944. Ramey to hear testimony in the case of 63-year-old George James. Extinguishes Fire Fire-fighting experts who wit nessed the recent experimental tests of deoxolin concluded that the liquid is the first reliable method of controlling the type which caused such extensive damage in London. As a demonstration. Dr. Hod enfield threw a few handfuls of "deoxolinized" sawdust on a carpet. Magnesium shavings and thermite powder were ignited creating a heat of 3,500 degrees F., and raked onto the treated sawdust. RASPBERRY FLIP Make 4 cups strong tea; chill. Combine No. 1 can (or 8 cups fresh crushed) raspberries with H cup sugar; boil I minutes; strain. Chill. Combine tea, raspberry syrup, H cup lemon juice, and 8 cups orange juice or orange soda beverage. Pour into tall glasses over crushed ice or ice cubes. Serves 8 to 8. ORAPE JUICE Because it is naturally sweet, grape juice is a special boon during this sugar-conscious period. Combine it with carbonated water, ginger ale, lemon, grapefruit, orange or pineapple juice; or dilute it to taste with lee water. TROPICAL PUNCH Whip H cup mashed ripe banana until creamy; combine with lii cups cold mSk; add 1 tbip. pineapple juice; pour into a tall glass; top with a dash of nutmeg and gar nish with a stick of cinnamon.
