S. Lexington and son of Mrs. Grace Hall of Jacksonville, arrived here last evening after an arduous trip from the scene of the Coral sea action. On expiration of his 12 days leave Hall hopes to be assigned to another airplane carrier. In relating his experiences aboard the Lexington, Hall expressed belief that the particular mission to which his task force was as signed made it necessary to withhold news of the Lexing ton's loss as long as possible. Hall graduated from Jackson ville high school in 1939 and enlisted in the navy through the Medford navy recruiting office in December, 1940. His brother, Harle Hall, enlisted in the navy at the same time and Is now a radioman at Bermuda. Life Imprisonment for Triangle Slayer Portland, Ore., June 17 (IP) A life imprisonment sentence was passed yesterday on O. D. Taylor, 29, convicted of shoot ing fatally Floyd Dickson, 25, In a quarrel over a woman March 27. Also sentenced In circuit court were Rassie, 23, Clen, 17, and Truman Wilson, 16, brothers who pleaded guilty to criminal attacks on two 17-year-old girls. The eldest will serve 40 years In the state penitentiary. Glen will we 20 years and Truman 7 years. PLEAS TO WAIT Due to lack of sugar canning applications and help the Jack son county rationing board is unable to take any more regis trations for canning sugar at present, the board announced today. A heavy drain on the sugar canning applications form at the state office has made it difficult for the local board to receive needed forms and those desiring to make their application are asked to telephone the board, 5149, to find out If the forms are on hand. Office employes said that those who already nave their forms may turn them . Into the office. Many hundreds of forms have been Issued and lack of help and time has slowed the registration. Anyone wishing to volunteer their help In assisting In regis tration of sugar canning appli cants may call the board. Those in charge stated today that vol unteer help will be appreciated. PASSES AGED 62 Francis M. Beck passed away suddenly Monday evening at his home on the Old Stage road at the age of 62. He was born In Kansas and had made his home here for the past five year. Surviving are his wife, Grace Beck, two daughters, Mrs. Inez Ritz and Mrs. Lucille Thompson, both in St. Louis, Mo. There are also three brothers, Clarence Beck, Canada; Arne Beck, New Hol land, 111.; Earl E. Beck, Los An geles, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. L. M. Hodkinson, Grants Pass. Time of the services will be announced upon the arrival of Mrs. Beck Friday from St. Louis. Arrangements are in care of Conger funeral parlors. Closing time for Classified Ali . m. PASSES Mrs. Emma Josephine Kelsoe, a resident of this community for the past 50 years passed away in Central Point Tuesday eve ning at the age of 76. She had been failing in health for some time. Her husband, C. C. Kel soe, preceded her in death, pass ing on May 6 of this year. They were united in marriage in the Willamette valley on De cember 25, 1881. Three sons survive, William F., Central Point; W. J. of Eagle Point, and Fred Kelsoe of Medford. There are also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be in the Con ger funeral parlors Friday at 3 p. m. with Rev. D. E. Millard officiating. Interment will be in Central Point cemetery. Carold Parker Voted Vice-Commander for Oregon Disabled Vets McMinnville, June 17 (IP) Oregon Disabled American Vet erart demanded yesterday that they be given a voice in shaping the post-war world. One resolution passed at the close of the 21st annual state! convention asked that one of their members be allowed to "sit at the conference table when ! the United Nations dictate the terms of peace." Another proposed to abolish in the future "the right of Jap anese, American-born or other, to own or contract any property or business for material gain." Next year's convention was voted to Klamath Falls. Officers elected: Dow V Walker, Newport, state com mander; Walter C. Burghardt, Oregon City, senior vice com mander, Carold J. Parker, Med ford, Junior vice commander; Corr Quale, Portland, treasurer; Rev. Levi White, Roseburg, chaplain; Frank Barnes, Port land, sergeant-at-arms.
