In the interest of good health practices, especially among pre school children, the Medford P.-T. A. council has completed arrangements to have children immunized during the summer through the facilities of the county health office in the court house. Nuwf and a physician will be available for the work on Wednesdays from 3 to ft p. m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a. m to 11:30 a. m. No charge will be made for pre-schoolers and only a small fee for older chil dren. The service is open to all children. The council at recent meet ing at the home of Mrs. Herbert Sims, president, voted to end a letter to the county budget com mittee approving the item in the proposed budget for a county Juvenile officer. Recreation Aided Council members are taking an active interest in the WPA summer recreation project which is under leadership of Mrs. Mar- Jorie Pena. Many have signed up as volunteer helpers on the playgrounds but more are needed. Women willing to give few hours a week as adult Your Influence Make or Break Says Griffith Rev. Glenn Griffith, evange list, speaking at the Church of the Nazarene, Holly at First, took his text from Gal. 9:7, "Be not deceived, God Is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap," and preached from the topic, "Influ ence." Some of the highlights of the message follow: . "Influence is that unconscious outflow of personality that makes O'.' breaks one and either leads those with whom he comes In contact to Christ or away from .him. Strange as It may seem, we do not live alone or die alone. We are influencing for good or for bad. We are tr.sking footprints on the sand of time and they either lead to Christ and salvation or to a wa;ted life and ruin. "When one considers the scope and Influence of an indi vidual it 1 is tremendous. For instance, when one Individual can influence a nation to go to the polls and vote to loose upon a nation the terrible liquor traf fic, with Us sad results you have some conception of what Influ ence can do. "A professor, whether In high school or university who doubts the deity of Christ, the authen ticity of God's word, or the im maculate conception, with a class of 30 students under his teaching, may wreck the faith of that entire group, because of their confidence In him as a leader. Then, as they go out, the stream of influence has en larged from one personality to SO In as mrny different walks of life to spread the same doubt, until eventually whole com munities lose faith In God through their Influence. "One who takes the name of mother and Is careless In her conduct, becomes an addict to the habit of smoking or drink lng or other detrimental Influ ence, may cause her whole fam ily to go adrift and be lost. Or. a father who thouuhtlcssly leads his boys In footsteps that are not straight may spoil their lives and cause his children to be lost. A worldly church leader, with a careless attitude toward the laws of God, may Induce many with whom he associates to drift from the Ideals of Christ and come to the Judgment de tested. "Another fact about Influence, good or bad, is that It does not stop at the grave but continues on even after death. A word that Is speken out of time can never be recalled, but it will continue to blight or bless until the end of time. "Remember, It Is not what you say you are, but what your deeds prove you to be thBt In fluences men for good or bad. for out cf the heart flow the Is sues of life. How we need to have the source of Influence purified until, at the close of the day we shall stand without condemnation In God-likeness Cod give us church members and parents, and leaders, with holy Influence. Girls and boys are urged to enroll for tennis classes now in progress under direction of H. G. Wilson who gives instruction at the high school courts to classes of ten or more. Training in playground activ ity is being given 'teen age girls from ninth grade or older, in dally classes at the Girl Scout Day Camp or in the city by Mrs. Pena. Girls completing the course will be given a certifi cate signed by Mrs. A. S. V. Carpenter, chairman of recre ation activity in the Medford area. Later lr the summer, evening recreation for 'teen age boys and girls will be arranged under sponsorship of the Junior High P.-T. A. Mrs. Sam Long, chair man, will be assisted by Mrs. Verna Thatcher. Mrs. Harrison Thomas and teachers who re main in the city for vacation. The fifty-first annual meeting of the Southern Oregon Medical society, the oldest district soo iety In the state, will be held at Chalker's Inn on Rogue River next Saturday.
