ON LEGUME SEED IS A liberalized price schedule that will permit eligible county producer to kII all grades of winter legume eed to Commo dity Credit was announced yes terday by the county AAA of fice. Growers interested should order cotton bags for sacking as there is a shortage and they may not be available later on, the AAA office announcement said. The new schedule provides much wider range of grades than the 1B41 program, and permits the purchase of lower grades of seed that coma within minimum requirements. Deductions for each one per cent that germination and purity tests fall below requirements for the top grade will giva the farmer full value for his seed and eliminate the need for re cleaning to make a specified grade, the county AAA office pointed out. Prices for the top grades are the same as announced last fall, when many county growers signed agreements to sell at least half of their 1942 seed crops to the government. From 1925 to 1940, approxi mately three-fifths of all new and used automobile sales, one half ot all sales of household ap pliances and two-fifths of furni ture sales were made on an in stallment basis. English Lutheran lo Conduct Bible School Commencing Monday Beginning Monday at 9 a. m. the regular summer daily vaca tion Bible school of Zion English Lutheran church will open for a two weeks period under direc tion of the pastor, the Rev. Karl W. Brockhaus. Four excellent Christian edu cation courses appropriate to various axe levels have been prepared and will be presented by a capable staff of teachers. Beginners, age 4 and 5, will be given a unit entitled "God Wants Us to Be Happy". The primary department will work on the course "Doing as God Wants." A series of lessons un der the heading "We Want to Know Jesus" have been worked out for the Juniors, while inter mediates and seniors will study a unit called "This Is My Church" which presents a sur vey of the function, organization and work of the Christian church on earth. In addition to these courses there will be ap propriate handwork, devotional periods and mission studies. The Bible school will be open to all children, ages 4 to 16, not already enrolled in one ot the vacation church schools in the city regardless of whether they are associated with Zion Luth eran church or not. They may enroll when they arrive Monday morning. J. Neumann, that the yearly Vacation Bible school ! will begin Monday, at 9 a. m. i and continue through the week. The church is offering a short course of Bible study for the primary, junior and intermed iate departments of the Sunday school. The pastor, L. C. Klrby, as sisted by Mrs. Kirby, will con duct an instructive assembly hour followed by two class per iods with competent teachers. The school is giving a treat to the children on Monday at the close of the session and a beauti ful picture of Christ for perfect attendance. Baptists Will Hold Daily Bible School A dally vacation bible school will be opened Monday at 9 a. m. in the First Baptist church by Miss Cotter, of Portland, and her assistants. There will be study groups for all ages and The Book of John has been chosen for study this year. Two "special days" are plan ned and all are invited to attend the school. Laknes, 28, hammered 1745 rivets into the hull of a liberty freighter dur ing a recent seven-and-a-quarter shift and washed up and went to a dance. The Oregon shipbuiding cor poration, in announcing the feat today, claimed a national record for its tireless young champion. Laknes, corporation officers said, drove seven per cent of all rivets needed in a 10.000-ton freighter in a single shift. Laknes himself was not great ly impressed and gave most of the credit to his seven-man crew. The boys kept the hot rivets coming at him one every IS seconds. Laknes, who learned to oper ate a rivet gun only last fall, was stirred to his record at tempt by an Associated Press Wirephoto picture of a Los An geles riveter whose count was MSB for eight hours. TO OPEN AT SOGE Southern Oregon College of Education Ashland, June S (Spl.) First summer session at the Southern Oregon College of Education will begin with regis tration at 8:19 a. m, Monday. Students planning to enroll for the first time will find that be ginning courses are being offer ed. Advance students and can didates for the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education will have a wide var iety of choices in the field of education and liberal arts. Of special interest to in-service teachers will be four dem onstration classes conducted Jointly by the college and the Lincoln Training School. These demonstration classes Include the Integrated Unit, Beginning Reading, Preprimary Education, and Remedial Reading. Out of state teachers will be able to get courses in Oregon History, Oregon School Law, and Oregon System of Educa tion which are required by the state department for certifica tion to teach in Oregon. GUILT ADMITTED L. J. Estes, charged with ob taining money under false pre tence entered a plea of guilty in circuit court yesterday, and final disposition of his case was taken under advisement by Judge H. K. Hanna. Estes, a former cantonment worker here. Is accused of pass ing several bogus checks. He is also wanted in Lane county for the same offense. Authorities said no returns had been, re ceived on his fingerprints and this was one reason why action was deferred. Estes was arTested upstate three weeks ago and returned here by Sheriff Syd I.
