A senate committee was told today that a patent on a small screw or fastener about the size of a man's little finger had seri ously impeded the production of military aircraft in the United States. Thurman Arnold, assistant at torney general, said that because of the patent, "at one plant 80 airplanes were delayed in their production; at another plant the same thing happened to 20 fly ing fortresses, and at still an other plant the entire assembly line was shut down for lack of the single item." Medford Women Aid Army Entertainment Medford women and girls have been splendid in their co operation at small dances being held at the Outpost for men in military forces it was announced yesterday. A group were enter tained Friday evening and re freshments for the affair were contributed by Mrs. William Bowerman. Mrs. Maynard Bush. Miss Vera Humphrey, Mrs. Lloyd Sanders, Mrs. DeVere Taylor and Mrs. Robert Shep herd. (U.R) The war has slashed tourist tra vel to Grand Canyon National park to almost half what it was before hostilities involved the nation.
