attempted anti-Japanese action
in Medford was revealed when
Joseph Willard Kieffer, 32, no
address listed, was fined $10 in
city court this morning on a dis
orderly conduct charge.
Kieffer and Clyde Edward

picked up by city police last
night after a report was receiv
ed that men were on the way
to damage the J. N. Cafe, at 27

anese, Ichitara Nakagiri. The
two were trailed to the rear of
the cafe after they had picked
up rocks on railroad property,
a police report said.
Kieffer is said to have ad
mitted his Intention to throw
a rock through a cafe window.
Gaster forfeited $10 bail last
night, police stated.

in the manufacture of phono
graph records and radio tran
scriptions. The curtailment was accom
plished by reducing the amount
of shellac available to producers
to 30 per cent of- the amount
used last year.
Shellac Is a necessity In rec
ord manufacture, a WPB spokes
man explained, and the record
industry normally uses about
one-third of the nation's annual
shellac consumption.
The board also directed Indus
tries using shellac, except record
manufacturers, to reduce their
consumption 25 per cent below
