Tice of South k Peach street. jp" Violators Fined Lewis Le mire was fined $10 in city court this morning for violation of the basic rule. Horace Wilson was assessed $5 for parking in an al ley and Joe Zash was fined $2.50 for double parking. Class Postponed Dr. O. J. Halboth's first aid class which was scheduled to meet tonight at 7:30 o'clock has been post poned until April 13. Class i members are urged to attend the Army Day demonstration at the high school field. Shed Burns A woodshed on property occupied by Mrs. Oca Tatham, 517 Park avenue, was partially destroyed by fire about 1 p. m. this afternoon. Blaze was V started by Mrs. Tatham a three- year-old son who was playing with matches, according to Chief Roy Elliott. The pumper truck answered the alarm. Accepts Position Jack Blck- ler, manager of the Safeway meat market at Sixth and Bart lett streets for the past five years, resigned his position Sat urday to accept employment . with W. M. Ray mond H. Dougherty, son of Mrs. Blanche J. Rinabarger of 136 Vancouver avenue, has been ad mitted as an officer candidate to the air force officer candidate school at Miami Beach, Fla., it was disclosed in a press release from the school. After success fully completing a 12-week in tensive course of instruction, Corp. Dougherty will be com missioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army air forces. Burglaries Reported R. Frank Pasmore, manager at G ro ver's dairy, reported to city po lice this morning that the build ing. 606 West 6th street, was entered during the weekend and that a small amount of pennies were taken. Entrance was made through the front door. Pas more said that two drawers, usually containing money, were gone through. Rev. Herald G. Gardner, 48 Quince street, in formed police Saturday that a silver Montgomery Ward lawn mower with hard rubber tire and 14 to 16 blades was taken from am his garage some time last week. Bittle said that the articles were found in hit ma chine while it was parked on Tilth or Sixth street. Minor Collision Cars of Wil bur M. Barker, occupant of Mer rick t auto camp, and W. M. Clark, Portland, were Involved in a miner mishap at the inter section of Main street and River side avenue yesterday, a report on file said today. Army Enlistments Kenneth E. Ballweg of 1207 East Main street and Eldon L. Stevens of Route 4 were recently enlisted in the U. S. army at the Portland headquarters of the Oregon re cruiting district, according to a press release from Lt. Col. B. H. Hensley, district recruiting offi cer for Oregon. Car Stolen Medford city po lice were asked Saturday to be on the look-out for a blue Chev rolet coupe stolen in Santa Fe, N. M., Friday night. Occupants were said to be Billy Knapp. 16 and Billy Smith. 18, both armed and dangerous. The machine bore New Mexico license plates 408, and had two fog lights. VITAMIN li Cfjfi it Story of 4-H Clubs On Rialto Stage and Screen Jane Withers stars In "Young America," playing at the Rialto theatre 'til tomorrow night as TAKEN BY DEATH Louisa Armpriest, 86, known by a host of friends as "Aunt Lou," passed away in Medford Sunday. She was a daughter of pioneer parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Knox who crossed the plains by ox team and settled in Lane count where Mrs. Arm priest was born Feb.. 19, 1856. At the age of six years, she came with her parents to the Applegate district where she has resided continuously for 80 years. She was a long-time member of the Christian church and loved by all who knew her. Six children survive, Anna Davies, of Jacksonville; Hattle Berry, Portland; Fred Armpriest and Carl Armpriest, of Salem; Walter Armpriest, of Jackson ville, and Mabel Moan of San Francisco. Also two sisters, Mrs. James Stewart, Salem, and Mrs. Oscar Knox, Jacksonville. There are also 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren of whom Mrs. Armpriest was exception ally fond. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Log Town cemetery near Ruch at 2:30 Wednesday with Rev. R. W. Coleman officiating. Conger Fu neral Parlors in charge of ar rangements. DeWitt, 375 South Cen tral avenue, reported to city police yesterday that his son, Donald, aqe 13, left home dur ing the afternoon after indicat ing in a note to his parents that he was going to Modesto, Calif. He is said to have left with a boy named Jack from Modesto, with whom he had been asso ciating for several days. Last name of DeWitt's companion, whose age is net given, is un known. Young DeWitt is described as being five feet three or four inches tall and weighing about 115 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes. The boy is said to be wearing a dark blue or black wool blazer with red trim, black cords and heavy shoes. His com panion was similarly dressed.
